About this book:

"A new graphic-novel series for emerging readers about the simple magic of true friendship

Easygoing Fox and anxious Rabbit seem like total opposites. But, somehow, they make the perfect pair! Whether searching for hidden treasure or planting a garden in their own backyard, Fox and Rabbit find everyday magic at every turn. On this first adventure, the pair will discover some new favorite things like sunsets, dandelions, and cotton candy. And they’ll face new fears like heights, swimming, and (poisonous!) frogs. Thankfully, there’s nothing Fox and Rabbit can’t do together!"
My Thoughts:

If you are looking for a fun emerging readers graphic novel to get your kids hooks on, I highly recommend this one.  This is the first book in what I hope is a long series for graphic novel fans.  Even though my girls are reading well beyond the reading level of this book, they couldn't put it down, and continue to talk about how much they love reading Fox & Rabbit, and how they can't wait for book two to release.  I ended up sitting and having my girls read me the book the other day, and after they were done, I could see why they loved the book so much. The two characters, Fox & Rabbit, who seem like total opposites, find themselves having a lot of things in common, as they set off on a fun adventure discovering new things together.  Not only was the story cute, but the illustrations really do a great job at keeping young readers engaged and wanting to read on to see what happens next.  I will definitely be keeping Fox & Rabbit books on my radar for my girls, and picking up new releases when they become available.  In the meantime, my girls continue to pull this book from their bookshelf to read time and time again.

About this book:

"A playful adventure full of action, humor, and sneak attacks—now in board book!

Follow this little ninja as he sneaks up on the family dog, swipes a cookie from his younger brother, and knocks over a carefully stacked block tower . . . only to be eventually out-ninja’d by his brother’s sneak attack! With fast-paced rhymes that parallel the little ninja’s quick moves, this humorous ode to sneaking, spying, and scheming—as well as unexpected teamwork—is sure to be read over and over again."
My Thoughts:

This is a cute rhyming board book that little ones will love sitting and listening to. It starts out with a little ninja spying and sneaking all about, but ends with him pairing up with his younger brother to have more fun.  My girls always complained about having a sibling, but when it came down to it, they loved having a built in friend to play with. And, I don't know about you, but being part of a team or playing with others is always more fun than playing on your own. Kids will love the full color illustrations of this board book, which will remind them that playing with others, including younger siblings, can be a lot of fun.

About this book:
"When spring arrives, baby animals come out to play with the turn of a page!

Spring is here, and it’s time for bunnies to run, chicks to sing, lambs to munch clover, and ducklings to swim. Readers will delight in seeing animals’ faces appear and then change when the page is turned, thanks to the magical venetian blind element. This sweet novelty book is great fun to read aloud and the perfect addition to our Changing Faces series."

My Thoughts:

This is one of those board books you will want to pick up and keep in your diaper bag, or handy when you are out and about with your little ones, and need to keep them entertained. While the story itself is a quick read, what will captivate and keep little ones attentions is the magical venetian blind feature of the book. As you turn the page of the book, you will see the animal's facial expressions change.  Even though my girls are too big for this type of board book, they couldn't stop flipping back and forth through the pages to look at the neat effects of the venetian blind element.  "Spring is Here!" is the perfect board book to welcome in spring with your little ones, as you welcome in the familar faces of farm animals enjoying the warmer weather and the fun to be had.

About this book:

"A timeless story inspired by the Book of Job and illustrated by the legendary Tomie dePaola—now reissued as a board book

Originally published in 1987 and now available as a board book for the first time, God Is Great,God Is Good showcases Tomie dePaola’s unmistakable illustration style against this poetic text based on passages from the Bible’s Book of Job."

My Thoughts:

If you are a fan of Tomie dePaola, then you will want to pick up this board book, which takes poetic text based on passages from the "Bible's Book of Job."  This book would be a great addition to your child's Easter basket. The book reminds kids that God is great, and a friend to all.  I grew up reading and enjoying Tomie dePaola books, and fell in love with this new board book the first time I sat down to read it. I found myself lingering on each page to take in Tomie dePaola whimsical and fun illustrations, that really make this a fun book to read time and time again with your kids.

About this book:

"A gentle introduction to diversity and acceptance

On nice and sunny Sundays, Elsie goes fishing with her six siblings. But she doesn’t quite fit in. They want to walk through the woods, but she wants to walk along the water. They like to cast their fishing rods directly into the water, but she prefers to use buttercups as bait. They eat their sandwiches, while Elsie feeds them to the ducks. But by the end of the day, Elsie’s siblings realize that though they may see the world differently, they can learn from their unique perspectives and love one another all the same. This sweet sibling story gently introduces young readers to important themes like diversity and acceptance and encourages us all to widen our worldviews and open our hearts."

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed reading this picture book with my girls and talking about the important themes of the story including accepting other differences, opening your heart to others and the world around and diversity.  With the craziness of the world today, and people taking sides and not wanting to look at the good in the world and in others, it is nice to come across a book like this that you read to your children at bedtime, and be reminded that kids and adults should keep an open mind when they interact with others.

My girls really enjoyed this book and the illustrations that fill the pages of the book.  I have lost count on how many times we have read the story. Each time we read it, they girls find something new in the illustrations that catches their eye, and we continue to talk about the positive messages/themes that the story is trying to convey.  I highly recommend this book, and know you and your kids will love this new picture book, too!
