Give the Gift of a Childhood Favorite Toy to Your Kids This Holiday Season by Surprising Them with a Pound Puppies Plush from Basic Fun (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent samples from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Thinking back to your childhood, do you have a favorite toy your received at Christmas, that you either still own or have happy thoughts about?  For me, a child of the 80's, Pound Puppies is a stand-out plush toy that I remember asking Santa for, and was so excited when I woke when I was 8 years old and found a Pound Puppies plush under the tree. At the time, I had no idea that this was a hot toy during many of my childhood Christmas's.  It wasn't until I was older that my mom shared how she stood in line with my dad at Toys R Us for over 3 hrs. after Thanksgiving dinner, in hopes of getting her hands on one of must have toys, as she knew I really wanted one, and kept telling all the store Santa's that the only thing I wanted was a Pound Puppies plush to snuggle with.  Unfortunately she didn't get her hands on one, but her sister who was at another store trying to get one for me, was able to get one for her.  And, boy, was I the happiest kid that Christmas.  I cherished that brown Pound Puppies plush for many years later, and even brought it to college with me. I brought it back to my parent's house when I finished school and was living in a small apartment, as I didn't have room for it, and didn't want it to get lost in the move.  My mom, knowing how much it meant to me, took time to wrap and store it so it wouldn't get musty.  It wasn't until I welcomed my first daughter that my mom surprised me with my childhood Pound Puppies plush at the hospital.  She brought it so that I could pass it down to my daughter, and for the first few years of her life, it sat on the shelf in her bedroom for her to look up at while she laid in her crib and then toddler bed.  I wanted to wait until she was a little older to let her play with it, as I didn't want it to get ruined.  It wasn't until I welcomed our second daughter, that I let my oldest daughter hold and sleep with my childhood Pound Puppies plush. She still has my plush and snuggles with it at bedtime every night.  It is one of her favorite plush, and I love that she is able to enjoy a cherished toy like this from my childhood, that meant so much to me. :-)

My girls are now 8 and 9.5 years old, and love animals, especially dogs.  And, this year for Christmas they both put Pound Puppies on their wish lists for Santa, after seeing them at Target.  I walked them through the toy aisles so that they could get an idea of what to ask Santa, and as soon as they came across the Pound Puppies large plush and the newborns, they were quick to point them out to me.  I couldn't help but smile, remembering back to when I was their age, and Pound Puppies was top on my wish list for Santa.  I didn't let the girls know that the folks at Basic Fun were going to send along Pound Puppies samples for them to help me review and include in my holiday gift guide.

Once the Pound Puppies plush adoptable pups arrived at our door, my girls were all smiles.  At first they thought maybe Santa was sending them an early Christmas gift.  Then, they thought maybe it was their Nana who sent it.  I told them that Basic Fun sent it and that they would have to work for it. :-)  They wondered what they had to do to earn these huggable best friends...and, I told them it was a simple task...make a quick video showing off their new Pound Puppies pets.  They were quick to say, "Yes," and grabbed the iPad for me to record a video.  And, without further ado, here is the video they made the other day, showing off their Pound Puppies from Basic Fun...
