Blu-ray Combo Pack Arrives November 19, Just in Time for Thanksgiving Family Time, with Deleted & Extended Scenes, Hilarious Bloopers, and More!

Last Friday for our family movie night we got to screen the upcoming Dora and the Lost City of Gold movie, which arrives on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on Nov. 19th.  If you can't wait that long, you can now get it on Digital.  This is one of a handful of movies we wanted to see in theaters, but due to illness we missed.  So, we have eagerly been awaiting its arrival on DVD and Blu-ray.  So, when we received last week in the mail, along with some fun movie swag to make our movie night more fun, my girls were super excited, and we all knew we were in for a fun evening, enjoying a great movie and quality family time together.

What child hasn't grown up watching Dora the Explorer?  My girls used to love watching Dora every day on television, and were super excited when they heard there was a Dora movie in the works, as it would feature a star studded cast that were of Latin descent.  My husband is from El Salvador, so my girls are part Latina.  I love when there are movies that I can watch with them that include actors and actresses who are Latino/Latina like they are.  And, my youngest daughter really likes the lead character who plays Dora after seeing her in the movie, Instant Family.

Like I mentioned above, I was sent not only the movie to screen with my family, but also some fun movie swag for my girls to enjoy.  This is what we received...

Maglite is proud to be a part of Dora’s new big adventure - high school! Be sure you get Dora and The Lost City of Gold on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital today!

As soon as my youngest daughter saw the purple backpack, she broke out into a song and dance singing about "backpack, backpack" from the animated Dora series.  She was quick to unzip the backpack looking for Dora's map. She didn't find the map, but she did find all the goodies pictured above, as well in the photo I snapped of the girls below.

Both of my girls loved the explorer goodies including the Maglite flashlight which came in a fancy container.  When the girls were done playing with the explorer goodies, I surprised them with the following FREE printable activities sheets to do before we sat down to watch the movies.

My girls really enjoyed solving the above puzzles and completing the mazes, etc.  By the time they were done, the popcorn was ready and the couch was filled with blankets and pillows to snuggle up with to watch the Dora and the Lost city of Gold movie.

I have read and heard mixed reviews about this movie, with many people saying it was weird seeing a teen play Dora. But, after watching this movie with my family, I have to disagree with those who weren't fans of the movie.  We really enjoyed this movie, as it was filled with adventure and puzzles to solve, just like with the Dora the Explorer animated series.  There was never a lull in the movie, and we were never bored.  Instead, there were times when my girls were on the edge of their seats hoping Dora and her friends and cousin Diego would make it out safely from places and traps, and that she would be reunited with her parents.

We really enjoyed this movie, and are so happy we now own it on DVD so that we can watch time and again.  And, I love that my girls were able to see strong Latina women like Eva Longoria and Isabela Moner in leading roles, representing.  Way to go ladies!  If you are looking for a fun movie to share with your family for an upcoming movie night, I highly recommend you picking up and watching Dora and the Lost City of Gold, when it arrives on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on Nov. 19th.  Or, buy it now on Digital and watch this Friday with your family.  You will not be disappointed!
