Do your kids watch YouTube videos? It is hard to find kids who don't watch these types of videos, especially toy reviews and animal videos. Both of my girls can't get enough of these types of videos, and could spend a whole day watching them. With so many videos available, the girls have found themselves gravitating towards specific YouTube stars to follow. One YouTube star that stands out to me, when asked by other parents, what my girls watch online, is the Kitten Lady, Hannah Shaw. My oldest is a huge animal lover, especially of dogs and cats. Unfortunately, my youngest is allergic to cats, as is my mother, so we can't get a cat -- even though my oldest wishes she could. She, instead, has to fill her bed and room with plush cats to snuggle and cuddle with, as well as fill her bookcases with cat-themed books to read and enjoy.
Recently, we were sent an advance copy of the upcoming October 2019 release,KITTEN LADY’S BIG BOOK OF LITTLE KITTENS) to review. This inspirational picture book will melt your heart right from the start, with the oh so cute kitten on the cover of the book. Both of my girls let out "Ohh, look how cute" and 'The cat is so precious," almost in unison, when I showed them this book the other day, which the folks at Simon & Schuster sent our way. While this wasn't the finalized hardcover book, it did give a good idea of what this fall picture book will be about. And, if you are a cat lover, young or old, this is one book not to be missed. Also, if you follow YouTuber Hannah Shaw and her Kitten Lady channel on YouTube, then you will want to pick up this book to enjoy.
This book is filled with adorable photographs of kittens, many of which Hannah has adopted herself. Readers will be educated on the journey of foster kittens, from their first days after birth right through the adoption process. It is so hard to read through this book, and not let out sounds of delight as you take in all the irresistibly cute kitten photos. Even though I prefer dogs over cats, it was hard not to find my heart melting as I sat and read this book with my girls, and admiring the cute kittens.
Kids will learn how they can help support cat rescues and kittens (and cats) looking for forever homes, including making DIY fleece blankets, collecting food to donate to a nearby shelter, and even volunteer opportunities. Both of my girls have been making blankets for dogs and cats in the nearby shelters, and with their birthdays each year, my girls ask for monetary or food donations for them to bring to the animal shelters, instead of gifts.
We really enjoyed checking out the advance review copy of KITTEN LADY’S BIG BOOK OF LITTLE KITTENS (Aladdin | On sale October 8, 2019), and can't wait to pick up the finalized hardcover book when it releases this fall.
