While I love trying out new recipes in the kitchen, whenever it comes to using Gorton's Seafood products, I always find myself turning to their recipes section on their website at gortons.com.  Not only do they offer a wonderful selection of recipes for each of their frozen seafood products, but all of the recipes I have made for my family and friends have always been winners - with many asking for the recipe or for me to make it again...soon. :-)

Artisan Recipe Fillets

So, when I was recently contacted by the folks at Gorton's Seafood and told about their new Gorton’s Artisan Fillets, I couldn't wait to pick up a few of the new product additions during my next grocery shopping, but also couldn't wait to check out the new recipes Gorton's added to their extensive recipe section that utilized these new artisan fillets.

In addition to the five (5) full-value product coupons sent to me, so that I could purchase and serve up the ALL NEW Gorton’s Artisan Fillets available in Roasted Garlic & Italian Herb, Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn, Southwest Tortilla and Southern Style varieties, I was also sent a Gorton’s branded cutting board perfect for chopping up veggies for a quick and delicious side dish.  You never can have too many cutting boards. :-)  And, I especially love these little wood ones, as they are great for cutting up herbs and mincing garlic to add to saute pans.

When it comes to new products in our local grocery stores, it usually takes a few weeks after the major city stores carry them before we do.  So, my first few attempts at finding and picking up the new Artisan Fillets from Gorton's were unsuccessful.  But, thankfully, when I was in a pinch for something to make this past Monday and had to run to the market, I was happy to see that they stocked the frozen food case with the new Gorton’s Artisan Fillets.  I only had two coupons with me, so I ended up picking up the Roasted Garlic & Italian Herb and Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn ones to try.

I ended up trying the Artisan Fillets with Sundried Tomato and Herb Rice, as I had most of the ingredients already on hand, and it was super easy and quick to prepare.

DESCRIPTION:

Adding just a few ingredients can transform plain rice to an impressive and flavorful dish, making this an easy weeknight meal with gourmet flavor!

INGREDIENTS:

package Gorton’s Roasted Garlic & Italian Herb Artisan Fillets
cups water
cup long grain wild rice
1/4 cup sundried tomatoes, thinly sliced
Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Tbsp fresh chives, chopped
tsp lemon zest, finely grated

NOTES: Add 2 cloves minced garlic with the sundried tomatoes for an extra boost of flavor.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Prepare Gorton’s Roasted Garlic & Italian Herb Fillets according to package instructions.
  2. Meanwhile, place the water, rice, sundried tomatoes, butter, salt and pepper in a medium saucepan set over high heat; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low.
  3. Cook, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender. Remove from heat. Add the parsley, chives and lemon zest. Fluff the rice with a fork until well combined. Serve with hot, cooked fillets.
I couldn't get over how moist the fillets were.  You would never have guessed that they were frozen.  And, with each and every bite, you could taste the roasted garlic and Italian herbs.  My husband thought I was experimenting in the kitchen with this new product.  But, I had to quickly tell him I found the recipe off of Gorton's Seafood website.  He said to make note of it, as it was one dish he would love to have me make again.

When it comes time to cook up the  Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn Artisan Fillets artisian fillets, I plan to make the Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn Fillets with Sautéed Vegetable Couscous, which is also available at Gorton's under their Recipe Section.Note: 5 fillets come in each box, so you will have enough to feed two with leftovers, or a family of four, with one leftover -- if you are lucky.  My husband also sneaks the last piece when we aren't looking. :-)

Before you head to the market to pick up the new Gorton’s Artisan Fillets, make sure you visit gortons.com to download a coupon, find a recipe to try and the ingredients you will need, as well as explore other amazing frozen seafood products from Gorton's.  I can't wait to hear what you think of the new Artisan Fillets from Gorton's Seafood.  Of the ones we have tried, my husband and I have loved them.  Can't wait to try the Southwest Tortilla and Southern Style varieties with my remaining Free product coupons, thanks to the folks at Gorton's Seafood.
