Sphere of Life

"The Sphere of Life collection is where it all began. Perfectly shaped spheres, each telling a unique story, have gathered together to make the flagship collection of Sphere of Life. All spheres are made of sterling silver and plated with rhodium. Many spheres are also accented with 18k gold, semi-precious stones, cubic zircons, or enamel. Aspiring to be the perfect gift, each design is accompanied by the iconic Sphere of Life box, a satin bag, and a card that tells its story - all laid in an elegant box, making the gifting moment as exciting and rewarding as possible."

Out of all the necklaces I have received or purchased over the years, I have to say that I have been most impressed with the "My Missing Piece" necklace from The Sphere of Life, that I was recently sent for review.

 My Missing Piece

"This special necklace, featuring a jigsaw puzzle that is missing one piece, is meant for the one that makes you whole. The My Missing Piece necklace, made of sterling silver and 18k gold accents, is the perfect gift for the one who, just like that one last puzzle piece... Completes you."

A few weeks ago, I was looking online for a necklace that would speak volumes about how I felt for my girls and being able to spend another Mother's Day with them.  This is when I stumbled upon The Sphere of Life collection.  As soon as I saw the necklace with the missing piece, I knew this was what I have been searching for these past couple of years.

Many of you know my background.  I was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer in 2008, told I would never be able to have children, and now am a mom to two beautiful little girls, born in 2010 and 2011.  And, now, I get to spend each and every day with them, watching them grow, and witnessing all their firsts. :-)  What could be better?

People that I know who have been diagnosed with cancer, take it as a wake up call.  We all seem to be speedy through life, not really slowing down to enjoy those around us, or even the simple things in life.  But, once you are given a cancer diagnosis, not only does your whole world turn upside down, but you are forced to stop in your tracks and give in to the different treatments needed to hopefully cure you.  For me, I underwent 38 days of radiation, and 3 months of weekly high dose chemo treatment.  It was a long, tough road, but I knew that with the support of my family and friends, along with the great doctors at Dana Farber in Boston, that I would beat my rare form of cancer.  And, knock on wood, com the end of May of this year, my doctors will finally tell me I am cancer-free and in remission.  For my type of cancer, they wait 5 years out of treatment with clean scans to deem your in remission.  Like Christmas, I am counting down the days, and will be celebrating with my family.

While undergoing cancer treatment, I began creating a Bucket List of things I wanted to accomplish and do during my life (and once I finished treatment).  The first item on my list was "Be a Mom."  I knew it would be a long shot based on what the doctors said, but I believe in miracles, and wasn't giving up home.  During the holidays in 2008, a few weeks before my cancer diagnosis, my husband and I, who had been together since 2008, talked about starting a family in the new year.  We both felt that there was something missing in our lives -- a baby.  Yes, we had a rescue dog, but we both longed for a child, and were finally ready to become parents.  But, then our dreams seemed to slip away once my diagnosis came, and treatment began.

Day in and day out, however, I would read over my Bucket List, and add to it.  My eyes would always start at number 1 and end there (Be a Mom).  And, once treatment ended, I continued to hope and pray for a miracle.  My prayers were answered in the fall of 2009, when my OB-GYN told me I was pregnant.  I couldn't wait to rush home and tell my husband the amazing news.  Before he got home, I thought of a great way to share the news -- I would put together a puzzle, but leave one piece out -- the missing piece.  When he got home that night, I showed him the puzzle of Savannah, GA that we had picked up during a previous trip down South.  He didn't think anything of it, until he saw that a piece was missing.  He said, "Do you know you are missing a piece?"  I couldn't hold the news any longer, and handed him a box with the piece inside, along with baby foot print charm I had found at the gift shop right before I started cancer treatment and hung on to.  He looked at both pieces and put two and two together.  I said, "We have our missing piece," as I showed him the ultrasound photo, of our now almost 3 yr. old daughter, Savannah.  :-)

So, when I saw the "My Missing Piece" necklace from Sphere of Life, it reminded me of so many things -- the baby footprint charm I bought and brought with me to all my treatments and hospitalizations, to the day I found out I was pregnant, and, then the moment I held our first daughter in my arms and looked into her eyes, and then again when Arabella was welcomed into the world in 2011 -- all these events centered around one missing piece in our lives -- children.  They are right when they say your world gets even better when you become a parent.  Even though I am tired from the up all nights and rigors of raising two toddlers, I wouldn't change it for the world. And, thanks to The Sphere of Life collection, I can share my unique story simply by wearing their "My Missing Piece" necklace around my neck.  And, every time I look down, I can't help but smile, as my life is truly complete, now that the missing pieces (Savannah and Arabella) were found. :-)
