Mother's Day Gift Ideas -- Gourmet Baked Goods in Whimsical Gift Boxes from Harvard Sweet Boutique (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent a sample from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views shared are mine and mine alone.

Are you a foodie?  I have been known to plan vacations and day trips around restaurants and bakeries, and have driven hours just to visit places I have seen reviewed online or on television.  It wasn't until I went away to college in central Massachusetts, that I developed a love for food, and loved sampling different cultural foods and desserts.  Pastries have always been my weakness.  If I could eat them every day without gaining weight, I would!

Recently, I learned about the Harvard Sweet Boutique, which has a retail shop in Harvard, MA, as well as an online shop for those outside of the Boston area to order online and have sweet treats delivered right to their door.

"Harvard Sweet Boutique was founded in 2007 as an online boutique. In 2012, founder Sue George opened her first brick-and-mortar retail location in Harvard, Mass. Harvard Sweet Boutique’s storefront offers local residents the same selection of gourmet sweets available on the website, as well as various in-store-only offerings. Harvard Sweet Boutique’s goodies are made with the finest ingredients, including rich European chocolate with the highest cocoa butter content, pure double-strength vanilla extracts, the finest flours, premium grade nuts, and fresh Grade A butter.  Harvard Sweet Boutique also offers low-carbohydrate and gluten-free treats for people with specific dietary needs."

I was recently send a sampling of Harvard Sweet Boutique's popular cookies, brownies and milk chocolate almond toffee to sample.  I couldn't get over the lovely packaging.   Each made-to-order gift, for individual recipients or corporate bulk orders, is handsomely packaged in whimsical, customized gift boxes.  Usually when I order from online bakeries, I am sent baked goods in plain white boxes.  But, I could tell that Sue George, owner of Harvard Sweet Boutique not only takes pride in her handmade gourmet sweets, but also has a keen eye when it comes to unique packaging.

The gift box was so beautiful, I didn't want to open it at first.  But, I knew I had to review the samples inside -- and, I was curious to see what they looked like, as I had never sampled gourmet sweets from the Harvard Sweet Boutique before this.  Just look at what I found inside the box:

I had planned to do a taste testing that night after dinner with my husband and daughters, but as soon as the girls saw the cookies and brownies, they couldn't wait.  I have to admit, I knew I wouldn't be able to wait until after dinner either.  So, after the girls and I had lunch, we had a mini-taste testing party.  Boy, did we have fun.  The assortment of cookies were so delicious.  You could tell that Sue George uses only fresh ingredients in her recipe.  The cookies tasted like they had just come out of the oven -- they were that fresh.  I couldn't get over how flavorful the cookies were, and how they melted in your mouth with each bite.  They paired well with a cold cup of milk. Mmm, I am getting hungry just thinking about it.  Too bad we don't have any more gourmet sweets from Harvard Sweet Boutique.

Harvard Sweet Boutique has been added to my must try shops, as they offer one-of-a-kind breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert options, as well their popular cakes, dessert platters, and custom-built gifts for special occasions. My husband and I are planning to bring the girls in a couple of weeks for lunch, and to pick up a few pastries to bring home.  And, who knows?  Maybe we will have them make Savannah's 3rd birthday cake. :-)

So, if you are looking for a tasty gift to give mom this Mother's Day, why not consider sending a beautifully wrapped gift box from Harvard Sweet Boutique?  Harvard Sweet Boutique offers a $5 flat fee for all ground shipping orders through the boutique’s website, www.harvardsweetboutique.com, which is unheard of when shopping online bakeries, as they usually charge per pound, or crazy shipping rates to get it to you fast (as their baked goods don't stay fresh long).  After sampling some of their popular sweets, I am hooked, and now have a online bake shop to order from when it comes to surprising those I love with goodies for their birthday and the holidays.

Here are just some of gift boxes now available especially for Mom from the Harvard Sweet Boutique:
