Dress Up Your Child's Backpack with Gutzy Gear (Review)

This past Monday, school started here in Putnam, CT.  In addition to children returning back to grades K-12, a handful of my mommy and me meetup group members also were having their toddlers beginning preschool.  Now, it is hard for me to remember going to pre-school for the first time, but from what my mother has told me over the years, I was nervous along with the other children, while also being excited to meet new friends and learn new things.  She treated my entering preschool like she did with my two older brothers who were already in the school system -- meaning, I received new back-to-school clothes and a backpack.  This was the first backpack I had and my mother had photos of me hugging it and carrying it everyone (even when I wasn't in school).  I would use the bag to bring my snacks and my show and tell item of the week.  And, I would fill it with arts and crafts projects and drawings/paintings I had made, for my mother to display on the fridge.
So, now that Savannah was heading to preschool for a half day session, I followed in my mother's footsteps and bought her a backpack.  Savannah had a blast choosing it, and ended up picking up a Toy Story one.  And, like I said in a recent post, I always hold an end of summer gathering for the local children and members of my mommy meetups.  This pool party/picnic was held last Sunday (before we all got sick :-( ), and besides great food, company and games, I let party goers experience a fun back to school must have -- Gutzy Gear backpack straps and patches.  I was sent a party kit, which included 15 Gutzy Gear starter kits (2 straps and 1 Gutzy Patch), along with 15 more Gutzy Patch sets to give to each child.

I love holding MommyParties, as they provide everything, from the product to review to games and recipes of foods that would be great to pair with the party.  With this party kit, I was sent a Bingo Game, Dominoes sheets, just to name a few.  So, the only thing I had to do when invite the guests and prep the food.  Because we were having a picnic and guest brought their bagged lunches to enjoy in the backyard, I made a few sweet treats for the kids to enjoy, as well as fresh squeezed lemonade and a fruity punch.  I guess the children liked these extras, as I didn't have any leftovers, and clean up was a breeze.

So, what is Gutzy Gear, anyway?

Gutzy Gear is a great, new way to express yourself by customizing your backback, sports duffel, messenger bag, and more! Gutzies are cool looking removable patches. Gutzies stick to a Gutzy strap cover that you put wherever you want to go Gutzy! With 56 Gutzies in a series and new Gutzies constantly being introduced, you can collect and trade a world of Gutzies. But Gutzy Gear is even more… Gutzy Gear is a lifestyle! Gutzy Gear is about showing the world who you are, taking chances and being the best YOU you can be. So wherever you are, whenever it is, whatever the plan…

As for the party, I had children from ages 2 1/2 all the way up to 10 years old present.  After demonstrating this new product, they couldn't wait to try them out.  I had told the mothers prior to the party to bring along their child's backpack for a surprise.  So, for over an hour, the children sat around in a circle attaching their straps, which were you velcro on in seconds and began trading patches.  By the end of the party, all the children has 3 patches to begin their Gutzy Gear collection with.  And, after seeing all the other patches available, they couldn't wait to pick up more and add to their straps.

Having never seen or heard about Gutzy Gear before this review/party, I was glad I was able to share this fun new product with my friends and their children.  And, when the children started back to school, they all went back in style, and had a conversation piece to talk about with new and old friends.  As for the preschoolers, they too, loved their new dressed up backpacks and couldn't wait to show them to their new teacher and friends on the first day back.  This made for an easier parent/child detachment, as moms had their children show off their patches to the kids.

So, if you are looking for a fun back-to-school gift to give to your children, why not surprise them with a Gutzy Gear starter kit and a few sets of patches to get them going? With patches for both boys and girls, you are bound to find some that fit your child's likes.  I have since ordered a handful more to surprise Savannah with.
