I just shared a post about DreamWork's 10 Movie Collection. Well, if that wasn't enough to fill your upcoming family movie nights, have I got another great movie collection for you, also from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment -- ILLUMINATION PRESENTS 10-MOVIE COLLECTION .  Just like with the other 10-Movie Collection, this is another collection that has ten movies that your whole family will love and want to watch time and time again.  My girls have been having a blast watching movies from the collection, as well as this one, and like the other collection from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, they are challenging themselves to watch all ten of the movies that make up the Illumination collection by the end of November...and, thanks to binging movies the past week, the girls are already halfway there.  We started by watching my favorite movie, The Secret Life of Pets, and then followed up with the sequel of it, before moving onto Sing  and then the Minions.  And, just tonight, as we lit up the Christmas tree and snuggled under warm blankets, we put on the Dr. Seuss' The Grinch to watch, while enjoying a festive trail mix/popcorn crunch I made earlier in the day with the girls.  We are really getting into the holiday spirit, and movies like these really help to fill your heart and remind you that being with family is a gift and one to cherish.

Now Available on DVD -- The Little Penguin: Pororo's Racing Adventure -- Review

Thanks to Hulu Plus, my girls were introduced to a fun animated series, Pororo, about a little penguin and his friends. Both of my girls are crazy about penguins.  From the first time they saw them at the aquarium a few years ago, they are now infatuated with all things penguins.  From bedding to plush penguins clothes and even dishware, our house is all penguined out. :-)  So, when I was recently browsing through the kids shows available for streaming through Hulu Plus, the girls quickly pointed out Pororo.

At first, I thought not another penguin show.  But, after watching the first episode, we were all hooked.  The theme song is so catchy that I even find myself joining in when the girls are watching this show through Hulu Plus.  So, when I heard that there was a new Pororo full length movie that was recently released from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, I just had to reach out and ask for a screener copy. I knew my girls would go crazy when they saw the DVD arrive in the mail -- and boy did they ever!  They ran circles around the living and dining area, singing the Pororo theme song at the top of their lungs, before they stopped to take a breath and ask when we would be watching it.  I had planned to save this DVD for this weekend, but last night after being asked over and over again and reminded that Mommy has to review this DVD, my husband gave in and put the DVD on for the girls.

You know you have children when you are watching a movie with the girls that you think you haven't seen and then realize you have seen it before -- countless times nonetheless.  I found myself telling my husband, who hadn't seen it yet, what was going to happen next.  He told me to "Shh" so that we could enjoy the movie.  But, then the girls chimed in and continued to tell him what was happened. :-)

While we had see this movie in the past, it was great to see it again (and again this AM). Kids will go crazy for this new DVD release, as it has Pororo and his friends dreaming about becoming Jet Ski racer champions.  Viewers will watch them train in order to be the best they can in hopes of achieving their dream of becoming a champion.  But,it will take teamwork if they want to have a chance to win.  Addition lessons taught in this full-length movie include the importance of telling the truth and why you should never tell a lie, dreaming big, and how cheaters never win.

Overall, I have to say that we loved "The Little Penguin: Pororos Racing Adventure" DVD, and can't wait for more DVDs to release from this hit animated series.  But, in the meantime, the girls will continue to ask to watch this DVD, as was as tune in to Hulu Plus to see other fun-filled episodes featuring the little penguin, Pororo and his friends.

My Thoughts:

I have watched over a dozen of kids' movies in the past few weeks, but have to say that Eleanor's Secret is by far my favorite one.  This family favorite movie will excite both children and adults alike as they are taken on a journey and meet some of our favorite classic fairytale characters.  I am a huge fan of The Jungle Book and Alice and Wonderland and loved seeing Nat discover these famed characters, as he embarks on a journey to save these characters so that future generations can enjoy them and their stories.  

While there have been similar storylines were storybooks have come to life and children are seen engaging with the different characters. But, I don't think I have seen one where the premise is for a child to learn about the different characters and have to save them for others to enjoy.  

In  addition to the unique storyline, I also found myself enjoying the unique animation and way the stories and characters were introduced.  They may look simple, but if you really stop to take in each scene, you will find them to be detailed and full of life.  The story comes to life and pulls you in from start to finish.  And, like my girls, I found myself wondering when we would watch it again...and again.  Thankfully, I didn't have to wait long, as the girls came running down the stairs the next morning and asked to watch it. :-)

If you like animated movies to share stories and characters from your favorite childhood classic, including fairytale characters, then you will want to pick up Eleanor's Secret to watch with your family. This would make for the perfect family movie night selection, that everyone in the family, both young and old, will enjoy watching together, time and again.

My Thoughts:

My girls are no strangers to Geronimo Stilton and his crazy adventures he goes on just to get a good story.  After reviewing a previous Geronimo Stilton DVD from Entertainment One, I ended up picking up a sampling of books about this famous NYC journalist.  

So, when the girls saw this new DVD release arrive last week at our doorstep, they got excited about watching their favorite mouse journalist.  Before this, they had taken a short break from watching Geronimo Stilton, as Santa brought them a handful of new DVDs, which have been on full rotation/repeat in our DVD player.  But, if you have ever seen this great mouse journalist, you will see why my girls and so many other family's get excited when the folks at Entertainment One release a new DVD in this popular series.  

This new release contains 4 fun filled episodes that will have your children laughing and smiling, as they watch Geronimo Stilton and his friends get into trouble on their many adventures to get the next best story.  While this DVD is not only entertaining for children of all ages, it also does a great job in teaching children about teamwork and never giving up.

Even if your family is not familiar with the popular Geronimo Stilton animated series, this is one DVD worth checking out.  You don't have to worry about knowing about a back story or having to pick up from a previous storyline, which makes this and other Geronimo Stilton great to watch.  And, each episode is short enough to keep even the youngest of children's attentions.

What I will say about this new collection is that fans of the animated series will go crazy for it.  Even if like my family you already own each of the four titles that make up this DVD collection, this all in one collection will come in handy for car rides where you play a DVD for your children, or if you want to get the collection to leave at the grandparent's house.  I have found that when I ask the girls which DVD's they want to bring with them when they visit Nana and Papa for the weekend, one or more of the Best of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! DVD's are thrown into their suitcases.  

With over 4 1/2 hours of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! fun, your children will have a blast watching some of their favorite episodes that feature Wubbzy, Walden, Daizy and Widget.  And, don't forget to check out the bonus features, which include coloring and activity sheets and music videos.  My girls, who have been sick recently, have been staying entertained watching this upcoming DVD collection, and coloring the printable coloring sheets, to have me hang on the refrigerator, or mail to the grandparents.  And, with the holidays right around the corner -- only 13 more Saturdays until Christmas -- this DVD set would make for a great gift for that special Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! fan in your house. :-)

My Thoughts:

I grew up watching this Easter movie, and couldn't wait to share it with the girls.  Even though we have only had this DVD for a few days, we have already seen it over a dozen times.  The first day I watched it with the girls, they had me replay it twice.  Savannah was in awe of all the brightly colored Easter eggs in the movie, while Arabella fell in love with the lovable Peter Cottontail.  When Savannah was not counting the eggs on the screen, she was yelling out the different colors to me in excitement.  

Now, each morning when she gets up she runs to the bay window in the dining room, which overlooks the back yard, to see if Peter Cottontail stopped by.  She does this, as my husband has been leaving a few plastic Easter eggs for her to spot and gather up.  He tells her the night before that if she goes to bed without fuss, Peter Cottontail will stop by and leave her a surprise.  So, she grabs her blanket and her milk and drifts off to sleep without any issues. :-)  And, in the AM, she is rewarded with a handful of Easter eggs filled with stickers and toys.  Then, we start our day by watching this classic Easter movie together, snuggled up under the blankets on the couch.  I can't say "No" to watching this over and over again, as it is one of my favorite movies, and a treat to watch with the girls and see them getting so excited about the Easter bunny.

So, if you are looking for an Easter film to share with your little ones, or grew up watching Here Comes Peter Cottontail on television prior to Easter, you will want to pick up a copy of this DVD, which is only $4.99 at Amazon right now.  For that price, why not pick up two?! :-)

My Thoughts:

I was the coolest aunt this past weekend, when my 10 year. old niece came to visit and got to help me review a DVD that isn't available for purchase yet.  After she got over the excitement of this, she couldn't wait to sit down and watch the movie with. 

From the moment this movie started, it was action packed and kept everyone's attention -- even mine.  The plot is easy to follow -- Ricky Lazio Jr. is his father's only hope when he is abducted. Does he have what it takes to bring his Dad home safely?  Don't worry, I will not spoil the ending.  With cool tech gadgets, children and tweens will love watching Ricky and his friends leap into action. 

Overall, this was a cute movie and would be great for children 7 and older to enjoy with their parents/friends.  My husband even got in on the fun and enjoyed watching the thrilling motorcross races, a speed boat chase, to martial arts showdowns.  We all found ourselves rooting for Rickey Lazio, Jr. to save the day --- all before dinner. :-)

So, if you are looking for a movie to share with your children, that will have they saying -- "Cool," then this upcoming movie will fit the bill.
