My Thoughts:

It always seems that whenever I find a good series on television, either the series is cancelled, or the returning seasons get boring -- thus, leaving me with nothing to watch, when I do find the time to catch a little television.  This was the case when I stumbled across Syfy's hit series, "Being Human" last season.  I was looking for something to watch and my flipping through the channels lead me to the show.  I am not usually a fan of shows on the Syfy Channel, but after a few minutes of watching, I was hooked.  And, since then, Santa was kind enough to bring me the first 2 seasons of Being Human on DVD, so that I could catch up and see how this popular series began, before the 4th season starts on Jan. 13th at 9/8C.

If you are not familiar with the series, it is about three young adults in their 20's who are anything but human.  One is a vampire, while another is a ghost and third is a werewolf.  Similar to other werewolf/vampire/ghost movies and shows, each of the characters has to deal with their own unique life and fitting into and dealing with the worlds of the others.  Having to live in the same apartment brings its issues, and this is what makes the show so great.  I don't want to give away too much, in case you haven't seen the show.  But, if you like shows/movies about vampires and werewolves or young adult comedies/dramas/fantasy genres, then you will want to check out this hit show on Syfy.  While I am still catching up on seasons 1 and 2, I was able to follow up early into the third season, and could understand the premise of the show.

I can't wait until the fourth season starts and see what is in store for Aidan, Josh and Sally.  Can you?  If you are a fan of the show and already own Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD or Blu-ray, then you will want to make a point to pick up Being Human: The Complete Third Season, as it is finally available as of today to own on DVD and Blu-ray. :-)

My Thoughts:

Growing up with two older brothers, I always had to watch what they were watching on television after dinner.  One show that I remember watching with them and my parents was The Carol Burnett Show.  I so wanted to dislike this show, as it was on the same time as one of my favorite shows, which I would have to miss, but I couldn't -- it always left me in stitches, laughing so hard.  And, as I got older,  I found myself tuning in to reruns of this show, and remembering back to when I was a kid and used to sit around the big television on the floor with my brothers, while my parents were on the loveseat, watching this hilarious show.

While all the episodes were funny, I used to love the holiday episodes of The Carol Burnett Show.  Some of the holiday themed sketches my family could relate to, and we would talk about it during commercial breaks.  :-) If you grew up in the 70's, then you probably watched this show...so, I will not bore you with a recap of the episodes.  What I will say is that I loved the two holiday episodes chosen to include on this recent DVD release, especially because of Alan Alda, who played Eunice's younger brother, Larry.  This is by far my favorite television holiday episode, and I laugh just as hard, or more, each and every time I watch it. :-)

Fans of The Carol Burnett Show will definitely want to pick up this new DVD release and add to their collection.  And, with the holidays fast approaching, this is one DVD that you can give someone who grew up in the 70's, and know they will enjoy.  You just can't help but laugh as soon as the first episode begins, and continue long after the DVD is done playing. :-)

Through it all, Grace fights to keep her dual life a secret… except from the one man who knows Grace best -- Southside mob boss Constantine Alexander (William Forsythe, TV's "Boardwalk Empire"), whose relationship with Grace is more than it seems."

My Thoughts:

Ever since ER went of the air years ago, I have been searching for medical television series that was just as entertaining.  A friend turned me on to this popular series, which I was reluctant to watch at first, once I hear it was about about the Mob, and not just a full-fledged medical drama.  But, the way in which my girlfriend described the show, peaked my curiosity, and made me want to tune in and check it out.  And, I am so glad that I did, as it really is a great television series, and one that has you hooked and wanting more episodes.  Because I only tuned in at the tail end of the series, I couldn't wait for the complete series to become available on DVD, so that I could see how the show began and what I missed in the middle.

Just last week, I received an advanced screener copy of the Mob Doctor: The Complete Series to review, and spent the better part of the weekend watching the episodes that I missed.  If you like roller coaster type movies and television series, then you will love The Mob Doctor, as you never know what will happen next.  And, usually what you are expecting to happened doesn't, throwing you for a real loop, yet making you want to tune in more. :-)

Usually I space out viewing of complete seasons/series over a few weeks, as I don't have that much down time (except in the wee hours of the night/morning).  But, once I began watching this new DVD release, I couldn't stop.  Yes, I may have had raccoon eyes by the morning, but come Monday AM, after a weekend stint starting Friday and lasting through Sunday of late night viewing, I watched all the episodes that made up this complete series.  Now, I can finally talk with my girlfriend about past episodes, as I previously asked her not to talk about until I was able to see them.  And, boy do we have a lot to talk about. :-)
