Academy Award®-winning Best Animated Feature “Finding Nemo” returns to the big screen for the first time ever in thrilling Disney Digital 3D™. In this stunning underwater adventure, with memorable characters, humor and heartfelt emotion, “Finding Nemo” follows the comedic and momentous journey of an overly protective clownfish named Marlin (voice by Albert Brooks) and his son Nemo (voice by Alexander Gould)––who become separated in the Great Barrier Reef when Nemo is unexpectedly taken far from his ocean home and dumped into a fish tank in a dentist’s office. Buoyed by the companionship of Dory (voice by Ellen DeGeneres), a friendly-but-forgetful Pacific regal blue tang, Marlin embarks on a dangerous trek and finds himself the unlikely hero of an epic effort to rescue his son––who hatches a few daring plans of his own to return safely home.

Star racecar Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car.  But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.  Mater finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret mission orchestrated by master British super spy Finn McMissile and the stunning rookie field spy Holley Shiftwell.  Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world.  The fast-paced fun includes a colorful new all-car cast, complete with menacing villains and international racing competitors.

My Thoughts:

I am hoping my husband doesn’t read this post because we are supposed to be watching Cars 2 this Friday, during our at-home date night, once the girls go to bed. We missed this movie when it came into theatres because our daughter, Savannah was just born and we adjusting to being first-time parents.  So, we said that when this movie came to DVD, that we would pick it up to watch together, as we are both Cars 2 franchise fans, and overall Disney/Pixar fans.  But, I couldn’t resist when I received it in the mail today to review.  And, while Daddy was at work, Savannah and I snuggled on the couch to watch this movie.

I remember hearing from others that when this was out at theaters that the first movie was much better.  A lot of people don’t like sequels, as they don’t feel it does the first movie (which is usually a blockbuster) justice  But, after seeing this movie today, I have to say this was as good as the first Cars movie.  I liked this movie as it introduced us to new characters like Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell..  Even with these new characters, my favorite character, like most people, is Mater.  I especially loved the beginning of the movie when Mater is waiting for Lightning McQueen to return for the summer, which he has all planned out.  When they saw each other, they had their own little “handshake”, or in this instant “wheel shake,” which was so cute.

Overall, this was another great film from Disney, and one to add to your family’s movie collection.  And, with the holidays upon us, it would make for a great gift.

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this DVD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
