Do you ever find yourself looking at your child and wishing you could just stop time? As we head into the busy back-to-school season, Gymboree is celebrating and sharing cherished moments in childhood. They even came up with a tear-jerker video as part of their campaign. I have to warn you that if you cry at the drop of a hat, make sure you have a box of tissues ready.
I watched this video this afternoon, and had Savannah come over and give me a hug, as she said, "There, there, Mommy. It's ok." Oh, how I wish I could bottle up my girls' cuteness, and have them stay little just a little bit longer. With a blink of an eye, they are growing up and becoming independent. Oh, how I dread the time when they think they don't need me anymore.
While cleaning up my computer the other day, I stumbled across this video I took of Savannah at almost 2 yrs. old. She was showing off her dance moves as she watched one of her shows on television.
This video, even though so cute, makes me tear up, as I see my baby girl is no longer a baby. Now, she is walking, talking, counting to 20+, saying her ABC's and so much more. And, not far behind her is Arabella, who, like I have shared in past posts is trying so desperately to catch up to Savannah. She started walking and talking at 9 months, and now does practically the same things Savannah does, including talking in full sentences -- and she is only 22 months old. I feel like Arabella did have her baby months as she was eager to catch up to Savannah since birth. Everyone who sees them up close thinks they are twins, as they weigh the same and are the same height.
As parents, we are always go-go-going, and oftentimes forget to slow down and cherish the special moments of childhood. I remember while pregnant, that 10 months wouldn't come fast enough. And, then once Savannah was here, we couldn't wait for her to crawl, turn over, walk and talk. Well, Bella arrived, we were too busy with an active toddler to photograph everything or stop to dote on her like we did Savannah. Now, when we look at the two of them playing and talking together, my husband and I are dumbfounded by how fast time has gone. Even though we are exhausted from still getting up in the night, and from caring for two active toddlers, we are trying to make a point to slow down each day to truly cherish these priceless moments of the girls' childhood. Like they say, "they are little for a little while."
