If you follow my blog, then you know that I am homeschooling parent.  I have homeschooled my girls since they were in preschool; they are currently in 8th grade.  Each year I plan out our lessons and piece together different curriculum for the girls, making sure to include lots of STEM and building kits, as both of my girls are hands on learners, and do better manipulating things to see how they work and go together.  They both love those magnetic tiles that you can stick together and build towers and things with.  So, when I saw that Geomag also had build kits that utilized recycled plastic, I was eager to get my hands on a build kit for them to try out.

The kind folks at Geomag sent along their popular Mechanics Challenge Goal! kit, which is geared towards kids ages 7+, and contains 96 pieces that kids will piece together to make a magnetic cannon that they can use to challenge and score goals against their challengers.

My girls had a blast working together to first build their magnetic cannon and goals. But, the real fun came when they started shooting their balls in hopes to get it into the goal.  There are a few different variations on how to build your play pieces, but the goal is the same -- score the most goals to win!  Not only did my girls enjoy building their very own magnetic launcher and goal and competing against each other to see who could score the most goals, they also had fun learning about forces of gravity and magnetism.  They were able to see these two forces at work thanks to this Geomag kit. And, once built, they were able to walk me step by through how the magnetic launcher worked and how they could launch their balls without the use of electricity.

Geomag Mechanics adds mechanical elements within the constructions, expanding the play possibilities.

I was so proud of the girls as they both explained the physics behind their mechanics challenge goal! build so well. And, I could see the pride in their faces as they showed off their completed build.  They were both quick to ask me to buy them more of these STEM build kits from Geomag. They, too, liked how the pieces were made of recycled plastic -- not only were they using the pieces to learn the laws of physics, but they were also doing their part to protect and save the planet, by reusing plastics in a fun and educational way.

The holidays are right around the corner, which means kids will be putting together wish lists for Santa.  Why not show them this and other fun STEM build kits from Geomag that they could include in their wish lists.  I know my girls will be hoping Santa brings them more of the Geomag Mechanics Challenge kits to make and play with. And, as a homeschool mom, there is nothing better than gifting them toys that have an educational aspect to them, besides just being fun to play with.  You can learn more about this and other Geomag products by visiting https://www.geomagworld.com/en/challenge/.
