Plan Your Next Family Game Night with These Fun New Games from Blue Orange Games - They Also Make for Great Gift Ideas for Kids of All Ages! (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent a sample from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

If you follow my blog then you know we are a game loving family. Every Saturday night in our house is game night, and when the holidays roll around and we have family and friends stop by to visit, the night usually ends with everyone around our dining room table playing board games, laughing and enjoying time together.  I have found that weekly game nights without devices or electronics helps keep quality family time up and has our girls talking openly to us while we enjoy time together as a family.  I have lost count of how many games we own. All I know is that we have 3 full shelves of games in our living room, and then another few shelves in the basement full of our favorite games -- board games, card games, etc.  It is always a treat when we are sent new games to try out and share about for my blog.

A couple of weeks ago, the kind folks at Blue Orange Games sent along a sampling of some of their new 2022 game releases for my family and I to enjoy, along with a fun Pull 'N Pops Cat fidget toy, that was an instant hit with the whole family, and passed around all through our game night, for everyone to pull and pop.

Collect all 5 cute designs: Car, Heart, Narwhal, Cat, Cupcake
and attach them to your keys or bags to take them anywhere!

If you are into fidgets or your kids are, then you know how satisfying it is to pop these little fidget toys.  They really help when competitiveness kicks in at game night, and you are eagerly waiting for your turn to hopefully win the game.

Check out the new games from Blue Orange Games we were sent -- all were instant hits with my family, and played for hours last Saturday.  And, we are all looking forward to game night to roll around this upcoming Saturday as we will be playing these games again, as we couldn't get enough of them.

About this game:

"Bag of Chips is a party game in which you will face crucial choices to ensure maximum points. Bet on which chips will come next, then draw from the bag! Be careful, if you're too daring, you can lose a lot. Each round lasts only a few minutes. You can quickly become addicted to this push-your-luck game!"

Contents:

  • 36 Cards
  • 25 Chips Tokens
  • 16 Victory Tokens
  • 4 Board Cards
  • Illustrated Rules
My Thoughts:

We played this game last last Saturday night and got so hooked on it, our game night ran into the early hours of Sunday. It was so hard to stop playing this game, as everyone kept wanting to play and press their luck with the token betting. We each thought we could guess how many of the colored chips would be pulled from the bag with each draft.  We each tried calling each others bluff, while also gambling with our cards.

Thankfully it wasn't real life stakes as we all would have lost our shirts. :-)  Everyone was laughing and having so much fun with this game.  We couldn't play this game without pulling out a bag of chips to snack on while playing this super fun game.  If you have older kids, especially tweens who aren't big into game nights, this game will surely pull them in and have them wanting to go another round. My girls couldn't get enough of it, and were bummed when I finally called game night at 2AM.  This is the first game we will playing when our next game night rolls around, and I expect a lot more laughs and fun to be had.

About this game:

"Thief! Sound the alarm and close the doors, quick! One of the museum artifacts has been stolen! The director is relying on you to unmask the thief (or thieves!) hidden among the 16 suspects still in the building. Each turn select a clue, put a price on it, keep track of your investigation in your notebook and suggest a suspect. Use your bluffing skills to throw off your opponents! After 6 turns, all clues are revealed and the player who bet the most on the real thief wins the game!"

Contents:
  • 24 Suspect Tiles
  • 1 Exit Tile
  • 32 Clue Cards
  • 48 Investigation Tokens
  • 4 Investigator Tokens
  • 4 Pads
  • 4 Pencils
  • Illustrated Rules

My Thoughts:

If your family love clue type games and solving mysteries of who done it?, then you will Musuem Suspects.  This game has you investigating clues and using deductive reasoning to dwindle down the list of suspects, all while trying to throw each other off your scent. If you like a good bluffing game, this one is definitely for you.

My youngest daughter always says she is good at bluffing, but her dimples don't lie. :-)    We ended up playing this game a few times, as everyone had so much fun.  Game play is around 20 minutes, so you can get a few games in in an hour's time.  So, get ready to put your detective hats on as you find out who the museum thief is.  Next to the Bag of Chips game, this was my next favorite game, and one I can't wait to play again.

About this game:

"With a soft silicone board and a popping twist, Pop the Box is the modern version of Shut the Box, for 2 players! Instead of flipping sticks, just pop the numbers! Each turn, roll two dice and either pop the numbers shown or any combination of their sum. For example, if you roll a 2 and a 6 you can pop these two numbers or you can pop the 8, the 3 and the 5 etc.... Take turns rolling until you can’t pop any more numbers. Aim at popping them all; the player with the lowest remaining total wins! Have a pop-tastic time!"

Contents:
  • 1 Popping Tray
  • 2 Dice
  • Illustrated Rules
My Thoughts:

Like I mentioned above, fidgets and pop its are popular in our house. Both of my girls have a few storage bins full of them, as they love to collect them, as well as go to fidget trading events and trade for new ones.  So, when I saw that Blue Orange Games released a pop it game, I had to get my hands on it to surprise my girls with.  They both smiled and got excited when I pulled them game out to play the other night. My oldest was quick to grab the pop it board to try out the pop it sounds.  We were finally able to play after she popped a few pops and said they were good. If you have pop it fans in your life, then you know what I am talking it -- some pop it are OK, while others have that popping sound you really want, and this game board had the right pops. :-)

This game is a two-player game, as each person gets one side of the game board to pop.  So, we took turns playing and then had a run off based on the top two winners of 5 games.  As a homeschooling mom, I liked how this game had the girls doing mental math to quickly add up the sum of the two dice rolls.  My girls didn't even realize they were doing math, as they were just having fun rolling and popping the pops in hopes to clear their row.  This game is small enough to take on the road if you are planning holiday traveling.  You can play it in the backseat, at the hotel, or when visiting with family.  My girls really enjoyed this game, and have been playing the past couple of days.  Just this AM my youngest woke her sister up to resume a match they started last night.  They are playing again as I am writing this post, and have upped the stakes and are betting their pop it toys, for the winner to get.  If you have a pop it fan in your life, this game would make for the perfect gift this holiday season.  You could even pair it with a few new pop its, or even the fun Pull 'N Pops I shared above.  We have the cat one, but I already ordered the four others to add to my girls' stockings.

Once your child gets one of these, they will want to collect them all!

About this game:

"Pear-shaped is the fast and frantic pair-making, pear-grabbing card game that gets out of hand very quickly! Players aim to get rid of all their pear-shaped cards by matching pairs of pear-shaped objects, numbers and colors before the pear timer stops rocking!

But be Pre-peared! When the pear timer stops, all players must stop playing cards and point at the pear while rocking side to side like the pear timer! When a pair of the exact same card is played, all players race to grab the pear timer! Don't be last in your actions or you will collect extra cards! The first player to get rid of all their cards wins!"

Contents:

72 Cards
1 pear timer doubling as a box

My Thoughts:

As I think about this game, all I can picture is my husband doing the pear shake dance every time he won.  He really got into this game and got really competitive with the girls.  And, when he won, he had to let them know with his silly shaking dance.

This is a fast paced game that will have you shouting out and laying down your cards in hopes to get rid of all your pear shaped cards before the pear timer stops rocking back and forth.  The game itself is quick to learn, and will have everyone moving and bopping all around as they watch the pear bop back and forth and the other players moving about as they quickly lay down their cards.  We really enjoyed this game and see this game as a fun one to pull out and play with family and friends who stop by this holiday season.  It is also small enough to fit in your child's stocking as a fun surprise come Christmas morning, and is easy to pack and bring the fun along when you travel or visit with the grandparents.

The above mentioned games are just a handful of the new releases from Blue Orange Games.  I already picked up a few more including the super cute Beagle or Bagel? game where you have to decide if the photo is a dog curled up or a bagel.  Dog lovers, especially my oldest daughter will go crazy for this fun card game.

I also picked up Burger ASAP! and Junk Jumble, where my youngest personally asked for after checking out all the new games from Blue Orange.

These games are going to make for another fun family game night, and ones we will pull out and play with family and friends who come to visit this upcoming holiday season. I also have some other Blue Orange Games on my shopping list to get my nieces and nephews who love games, too. They usually come over and get hooked on a game we have, and go home asking my brother if they can get so they can continue the fun at home.    You can learn more about these and all the other 2022 releases from Blue Orange Games by visiting their website here: https://www.blueorangegames.com/.

If you are a game loving family and have weekly or monthly game nights, why not shake things up with some new games to share with your family.  Or, if you are looking for non-toy gifts that your kids will enjoy time and time again and not grow bored with, why not consider picking up a few games for them. You can never go wrong with a board or card game -- and, it is the perfect way to get the whole family together to enjoy quality time together.  We have made so many great memories as a family with our family game nights, and look forward to them every week.
