This past summer, I introduced my girls to the first Space Jam movie. We were staying at my parent's summer home in NH, and the girls couldn't find anything to watch on television. So, we went through the old movies my parents had in the movie cabinet, and I was quick to grab Space Jam starring Michael Jordan. At first, the girls gave me an eye roll as they aren't big into sports including basketball. But, then when they saw it included animated Looney Tunes characters, they were intrigued and were willing to give the movie a try.
Within the first ten minutes of the movie, the girls were hooked, and their eyes were glued to the television for the rest of movie. Once it was over I shared the great news that there was another Space Jam movie coming out. Unlike fans of the first movie which released back in 1996, my girls didn't have wait all these years for a second installment in Space Jam franchise to come theaters and then home video. But, for us old folks :-) the wait was finally almost over. We didn't see the movie when it arrived in theaters, but it was top on our list of movies to pick up once it released to DVD and Blu-ray. And, this past weekend we had a super fun double feature movie night -- watching both Space Jam movies, before choosing which of the two was our favorite.
Have you seen the new Space Jam: A New Legacy movie yet? While it has been a hit or miss with many who have seen it, my family and I loved it. I am partial to the first one as I love Michael Jordan, and grew up watching him play for the Chicago Bulls. But, I do have to say, this new release is more with the times and really was cute, and kept kids and adults engaged and smiling all the way through. Both of my girls said they preferred the LeBron James movie, while my husband said it was hard to choose, as he liked both movies.
