Camp Warner Bros. - Week 6 - Alex & Me Movie + Fun Goal Chart and Family Workout Activities for Campers! #CampWarnerBros

My youngest daughter was really bummed this summer when she found out that her international soccer camp training for the week would be cancelled due to Covid-19. She has been attending a week long summer soccer camp for the past 4 years, and loves being coached by British coaches, as she works to improve her game and techniques. When they moved to do virtual soccer camp, it just wasn't the same, and she was missing running outside back and forth with the others kids. I know my daughter is not alone in feeling upset about everything cancelling for what seems like the rest of the year -- both kids and adults are all in the same boat. But, even though she missed out on soccer camp this year, she has been getting in extra one on one training with my husband as he is working from home and can take breaks in his day to run around the backyard with my daughters playing soccer and getting in a little physical fitness.

With all the soccer that my girls have been playing in the backyard with my husband and with each other, I knew they would be excited for this week's movie, Alex & Me, as part of Camp Warner Bros.

Can you believe that we are in week 6 of camp?  Only 2 more week left. :-(  I don't know about you, but I am finding that the movies on seem to be getting better and better as the camp weeks progress. And, Alex & Me sure was a hit with my whole family yesterday when we watched it.  I was so surprised that we never saw this movie before, seeing how much my girls are into soccer and love the women's USA soccer team and their players.  But, after showing them the trailer they couldn't wait for last night to come so that they could sit and watch the movie. And, when the movie ended, both of my girls cheered and were so happy with the ending.  They also couldn't wait to watch the movie again, and have been talking all about it with friends online today in their messenger and their online classes.  Now, so many of their friends want to check out Alex & Me after hearing my girls rave all about it...and, I can't blame them, as this is a really great family-friendly movie that the whole family will enjoy come family movie night.

Here is more about Alex & Me, in case you weren't aware of this movie like I was...

Shoot for your dreams this week at Camp Warner Bros., as soccer superstar, Alex Morgan, stars in the full-length feature film – Alex & Me! The film follows the uplifting story of a young female athlete who learns how you need passion, determination and self-worth to make all your dreams come true.

About Alex & Me:

Teenager Reagan Willis has one dream – to play soccer like her hero, Alex Morgan. Her bedroom is a shrine to all things Alex, including a life-size poster of the Olympic gold medalist. Yet in the Willis house, Reagan lives in the shadow of her prep football superstar brother, Logan. When Reagan fails to make the cut of the premiere local soccer club team and is humiliated by her rival Claire, she’s certain her ship has sailed. But after accidentally hitting her head, Reagan’s poster of Alex Morgan suddenly comes to life and everything changes!

This week in Camp Warner Bros. we are taking a break from crafting and doing something a little different. How does a little physical activity for the whole family sound, as well as starting a goal chart?  Those are are fun filled activities to go along with Alex & Me.  While I am not a big fan of physical activity in the hot summer sun, I did like how everyone had to put away their electronics and gadgets for a half hour earlier this evening to do a family workout.  Usually I do my own exercising, my husband does his own, and the girls get their exercise in by running and playing outside throughout the day, so it was fun to gather up everyone and do a workout together.  Yes, there was some complaining at first as it was still hot out, but once we got going, everyone was smiling, laughing and enjoying this fun workout.

"In soccer, developing strength enables a player to better control his or her body when they are striking or heading the ball, making a save in a goal, or changing directions abruptly on the field. Participating in group physical activity can be fun, elevate your mood, and strengthen your body and bond with your team all at the same time!.

Families grab your water bottles and towels – and get ready to move your body, while bonding with your kiddos with this fun Alex & Me Family Workout: https://wbproductions.box.com/s/3ah6u29n5fp7x5w21gux5n4j3075mesb Please always use caution when exercising, and listen to your body. If something doesn’t feel right – don’t do it! Daily exercise improves health, can reduce anxiety, and increases self-confidence – and working together to get through this list as a team will make the whole family feel great!"

Once we were done working out, I gave everyone a cold glass of water with lots of ice in it, while I sipped on my Camp Warner Bros. tumbler filled to the brim with ice cold water -- come on, I am the cam director and need to make a point to stay hydrated! :-)  We sat at the table on our deck and I talked to the girls about goals and showing them the goal chart.  They both have dream boards they have made and have hanging on their bedroom walls, so I knew they would be up for making a goal chart.  It was easy to start, too, as the folks at Warner Bros. sent this Alex & Me Goal Chart - a great tool to motivate kids to strive to be their best: https://wbproductions.box.com/s/n3pfqwuzd5xx7z2lu9t4v5h6ch6apgws - which will inspire your campers to follow their dreams and keep track of their personal goals

My girls each filled out their own goals charts and have listed some short and long term goals that they will work on the rest of this summer and the rest of this year.

"Summer is a great time for campers to think of their goals -  be it short term, or long term! In Alex & Me, Reagan (played by Siena Agudong (“Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn,” and “ Star Falls”) uses a chart to keep track of her daily soccer drills as she progress towards her goals.
Campers can hold themselves accountable, and mark off each item on their list as they are completed!"

Week 6, even though it just started, has been a blast so far.  We plan to watch Alex & Me again during the week, play a little soccer and try and get in a few days of family workout using the Alex & Me inspired workout shared above.  I hope you enjoy this great family-friendly movie the whole family will enjoy -- note: you don't need to play soccer to enjoy this movie. And, stay tuned for next week when we will be watching Tom & Jerry: The Fast and the Furry and doing a fun "Drive-In" movie activity. But, in the meantime enjoy Week 6 of Camp Warner Bros. while watching Alex & Me and having your kids create their own goal charts and doing a family workout together. I really enjoyed listening to my girls talk about their goals and filling out the chart. And, they were quick to grab their goal charts this AM to check off, as they worked on their goals. :-)
