Giving Yourself Something to Look Forward To

Times aren’t the best for many of us right now. Even if we’re all healthy and safe (which is the most important thing to focus on), the Coronavirus pandemic has still managed to cause problems for many of us, dampening our spirits and leaving us feeling a little lost. The social distancing measures that are being implemented by governments around the world to slow the spread of the virus and reduce the number of deaths have resulted in most of us staying home, with only key workers heading out. This means holidays have been cancelled. Festivals have been cancelled. Celebrations have been cancelled. Whatever we were looking forward to doing this year, chances are, it’s either cancelled or doesn’t really look like it’s going ahead. But try not to feel too down. It’s important to keep your spirits up. Instead of wallowing, why not give yourself something to look forward to? Here are a few ways to go about this.

Order Something

We should all treat ourselves from time to time if possible. Ordering something means you know something good is on its way to you. You can look forward with anticipation to its arrival. So, why not place an order? Whatever you invest in can be big or small. Just make sure it’s something you really want. It could be a magazine subscription to look forward to. It could be some comfortable loungewear to wear around the house. It could be something from free pipe friday. It could be some baking essentials so you can try baking banana bread or a sourdough loaf like the rest of the world seem to be doing right now.

Plan Future Holidays

Current holidays may be on the ropes, but why not plan a future one for something to set your sights on. Use this time as an opportunity to save and look up where you really want to go. Browse travel websites and blogs for recommendations. Take a look through Pinterest boards and pin places, creating a kind of online bucket list. See where Instagram influencers have been jetting off to in the past and where you might like to visit too. Planning a holiday, even if you’re not sure when you’ll actually be able to go on it, can be really beneficial for your mood.

Make Plans for When Restrictions are Lifted

We probably all have a few ideas of things we want to do once the restrictions have been lifted. Things we want to do with friends. Things we want to do with family. Why not start planning now? Sure, it may be a little while before we can all hang out again normally without distancing measures in place. But it’s good to have something to really look forward to. Whether that’s a picnic in the park, a trip to the nearest beach or anything else!

It really is important to try to stay positive right now. Hopefully, the above ideas have given you something to plan or look forward to!
