Brothers in war. Enemies in peace.

Growing up I used to watched Westerns with my dad, after he got home from a long day at work or police detail.  It was a way for him to unwind after a crazy day, and opportunity for me to spend time with him, as my two brothers were not fans of this genre of film.   I found myself really getting into these types of movies, and continue to watch them to this day.  So, when I was recently sent The Warrant, which released today on Day and Digital from Mill Creek Entertainment, I couldn't wait to watch it.  This Western film take place right after the Civil War, and includes a great cast of actors/actresses, that really do an amazing job with this film, and make it a treat to watch.

Here is more about the film, including the official trailer...

Synopsis:

Sheriff John Breaker and his son, Cal, reunite after the Civil War to track down a fellow veteran, now a notorious gang leader.

Their mission turns dangerous when they find themselves caught between their former friend’s outlaw gang and the vigilantes who are taking the law into their own hands.

Starring Neal McDonough (Yellowstone, Captain America), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, Tarzan), Steven R. McQueen (The Vampire Diaries, Chicago Fire), and Annabeth Gish (X-Files, The Haunting of Hill House).

---

I am a huge fan of Annabeth Gish, as I loved her in Mystic Pizza way back when, and have followed her career in film and television since then.  She has always delivered stellar performances, and did a great job in this movie.  As I watched the trailer shared above, I could see that this was like the type of Westerns I used to watch back in the day.  I don't know about you, but if you are a fan of Westerns, ones from the late 90's and onward really try to hard to fall under the "Westerns" genre, and usually fall flat with the plot or character stories. But, this was not the case with The Warrant.  As I sat to watch this movie, I was drawn in from the opening scenes, and couldn't keep my eyes from the television screen.  I wanted to see what would happen next, and found myself hoping the sheriff and his son would track down the outlaw and bring him to justice, before more people were hurt.

Don't worry, I will not ruin the ending of the movie. But, I will say is that this is a really great movie, and one that both my husband and I enjoyed.  While I wouldn't consider this a family-friendly movie, older tweens/teens will enjoy the gun fighting scenes and the whole Western movie feel.  You will see that this is a relatively low-budget movie, but that doesn't bring down the quality of the film.  With the amazing group of actors they pulled together for the film and the great story line of good vs. evil and heroism, fans of cowboy westerns will really enjoy this movie.  There are plot twists and surprises to the story line that you don't see coming, which makes this a movie you will want to turn away, as you may miss something.  The movie is fast paced and full of action, so there is never a lull making it lag or feel boring.  I could go on and on about just home much I enjoyed The Warrant.  But, instead, why don't you pick up a copy of this movie, which released to DVD and Digital HD, by picking up a copy to watch.  I know you will love it just as much as I did.  This is definitely one of those Westerns you will want to watch time and time again, and not get bored with.  You can learn more about The Warrant by visiting the official movie website here: https://thewarrantmovie.com/ .
