Join Haruko To Fight Medical Mechanica And Fraternity With The Cult Anime Series

Available on Blu-ray February 4th
FLCL: Alternative Also Hits Shelves on DVD The Same Day!

Thanks to the folks at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, my husband got his anniversary/Valentine's Day gifts early this year. Last week, I was sent a screener of the new FLCL: Progressive and FLCL: Alternative Blu-ray Combo Pack, along with a Haruko Funko POP! Animation figure to review.  To say my husband is a fan of these Adult Swim's anime series is an understatement.  He was been eagerly awaiting for the arrival of this Blu-ray combo pack ever since he heard of its release late last year.  Just like my girls do when Christmas rolls around, my husband has been counting down the days until the Feb. 4th release.  But, thanks to the girls opening mail the other day and my husband catching a glimpse of the Funko POP! Haruko figure, and then the Blu-ray combo pack, it was hard to keep them hidden or a secret.  He kept asking to see it, just to read about the bonus content, and to check out the fine detailing of the Funko POP! figure.

I knew I couldn't keep it hidden from him, so I gave it to him early. Oh, how I wish you could have seen the huge smile that came over his face.  He said that this was the best Valentine's/Anniversary gift ever, and that he couldn't want to binge watch all 12 episodes of the 2 series collection, which make up this new 2-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack release.

Fans of this Adult Swim Anime series will be happy to know that the two series included both com with Japanese and English audio.  Whenever my husband watches Japanese Anime, he likes to have the audio in Japanese, and then read the English subtitles.  He says it sounds and looks funny when the English is dubbed over the Japanese voices.  But, he tried it both ways with this Blu-ray combo pack and said it was better than expected.  He found himself switching between the two audio options to enjoy all twelve episodes, which he was able to watch this past weekend.  In addition to the twelve full length episodes, this combo pack also includes some great special features, which include:

  • Meet the Creators
  • The Pillows
  • The Making of FLCL Progressive & Alternative
  • Production: Behind the Scenes
  • English Voice Actors
My husband really enjoyed watching the special features after he binge watched the two Adult Swim series' episodes.  He liked learning about the creators of the shows, as well as watching the making of these two Japanese Anime series, which were a hit on Adult Swim, and have a loyal following including my husband, and a bunch of his friends at work.  After I gave him his combo pack and Funko POP! early, he couldn't wait to go into work and brag to his friends that he got an advance copy of the Blu-ray Combo Pack, as well as the Haruko Funko POP! figure, which he is proudly displaying on the shelf in his cubicle at work.  His friends come by to chat and also want to check it out.

If you are a fan of the these two Adult Swim FLCL series, then you have probably been counting down the days for tomorrow's Blu-ray Combo Pack release. Well, I am happy to say that the wait is almost over, and that by tomorrow you can start binge watching all twelve episodes, once you get your hands on this amazing (my husband's words) Blu-ray Combo Pack release.  Like I said, my husband was all smiles when he saw the FLCL package arrive in the mail, and hasn't stopped smiling, when talking about it.  Even if you have never seen these two Japanese Anime series, but are a fan of Anime, my husband highly recommends you check out FLCL: Progressive and FLCL: Alternative.  Once you watch the first episode, you will be hooked, and will love that you have both series in a Blu-Ray combo pack collection. So, what are you waiting for?  Make a note to pick up this Blu-ray release from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment tomorrow, when it arrives on store shelves.  Or, head on over to Amazon and pre-order your copy today.  You will not be disappointed!

This Blu-ray combo pack, paired with the Haruko Funko POP! figure would also make for a great Valentine's Day gift idea for that special someone in your life who loves Japanese Anime. :-)

More about this upcoming Blu-ray combo pack release:

"The wait is over! Adult Swim’s popular anime series FLCL: Progressive and FLCL: Alternative, both release for the first time ever as a Blu-ray combo pack from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on February 4th. Based on the original anime series written by Yōji Enokido and from director Kazuya Tsurumaki, the collection propels Haruko and her yellow Vespa back into action with 12 episodes from FLCL: Progressive and FLCL: Alternative. The Blu-ray Combo Pack is priced to own at $44.98 SRP ($52.99 in Canada). FLCL: Alternative will also be available on DVD on February 4th for the low price of $19.99 SRP ($24.99 in Canada).

From the legendary anime studio Production I.G and Adult Swim, FLCL: Progressive & Alternative Combo Pack will include a 15-minute never-before-seen documentary that dives into the making of both seasons featuring interviews with voice talent and crew. Additional special features include a “Meet the Creators” piece focused on the new era of show creators, a segment about “The Pillows” relationship with the series, a glimpse at the English voice actors behind FLCL together, and a look into the production of FLCL: Alternative.

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2001 original FLCL, FLCL: Progressive tells the story of 14-year-old Hidomi and her classmate, Ide, as the war between Medical Mechanica and Fraternity continues. Now in the form of their teacher, Haruko Haruhara returns alongside another otherworldly being, Jinyu, a gorgeous Chrysler Bel Aire and her yellow Vespa to unleash their hidden potential.

FLCL: Alternative, the third and final season centers on the misadventures of 17-year-old Kana and her friends, Mossan, Hijiri and Pets. Living a seemingly normal life, the group’s lives are flipped upside down when Mecha falls from the sky and arrives with the guitar-wielding Haruko Haruhara. Once again determined to take out Medical Mechanica, Haruko works to awaken Kana's N.O. channel before the relentless iron takes over the world.

“During its twelve-week run on Adult Swim’s Toonami, FLCL was #1 in its time slot, and garnered a huge fan following,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, WBHE, Senior Vice President, Originals, Animation and Family. “We think both the fans and newcomers are going to love the Combo Pack with it exciting behind the scenes extra content, in addition to the final 12 highly anticipated episodes from the fanatical series."
