Bedtime Reading Made More Fun with These Recent Simon & Schuster Picture Book Releases (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent review copies from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Minus the cold temps that come with winter, I love this time of year, as the days get darker earlier, giving us more time to snuggle up on the couch and read a few good books before bedtime.

"Hank gets more than he wished for in this hilarious Level 2 Ready-to-Read based on an episode of the hit Disney Channel show Hotel Transylvania: The Series.

His friends think it is hilarious, but Hank is tired of being a monster and wishes he was normal. Mavis tries to help him make his wish come true, but turns him into a human by mistake! Everyone at Hotel Transylvania is terrified of humans! If she can’t find a way to turn him back into a monster—and fast—he’ll have to leave the hotel and will be stuck as a human...forever!

My Thoughts:

If your kids love Disney Channel's animated series, Hotel Transylvania: The Series,  then you will want to pick them up this new release, as well as others from Simon & Schuster, that retell favorite episodes from the television series.  Both of my girls are huge fans of the series, which are based on the popular animated movies.  So, they were excited when this book arrived at our door.  They have a nice collection going of these books, but both agreed, after reading this level two Ready to Read book, that this was their favorite so far.  What my girls really liked about this story is how Hank was turned into a human, and they couldn't wait to read until the end to see if he was going to be stuck a human.  My girls were quick to point out that Hank should have been happy the way he was and know that everyone is different, and that we all should celebrate our differences and embrace these as they make us all unique.  I loved having the girls read this book to me, and share their favorite parts with me. It would also make for a great bedtime book, too.

My Thoughts:

Even with the warmer winter we have been experiencing lately, I know I am not alone in wishing spring and the warmer weather will get here soon. Every time we see the sun peak through the clouds, my girls and I smile, as it perks up our mood, and reminds us that spring and summer are right around the corner.  This book was just a fun read, as we got to see Woodstock want to take full advantage of a sunny day by packing so much into his day with his best friend Snoopy.  Woodstock wants to have a picnic, play at the playground, and so other things, while Snoopy is content just being in his doghouse.  Will they get to enjoy the sunny day, or will Woodstock have to go off and enjoy the sun and fun by himself.  You will have to pick up this cute board book to find out for yourself.  My girls both give this book two thumbs up!

My Thoughts:

My youngest daughter is a huge fan of the Netflix Original Series, The Boss Baby: Back in Business.  So, whenever she sees a book arrive in the mail, she is all smiles, as she can't wait to read it.  And, just seeing her read a book over and over again, is great, as she was my reluctant reader just a year ago.  My daughter loved this particular book as she has been watching this episodes from the Netflix series over and over again.  She loved the end of the episode where Marisol the babysitter planted a plastic bat behind the couch.  My daughter always laughs at this part and thinks the babysitter is so savvy.

If your kids love The Boss Baby, the movie, or the Netflix series, then you will want to pick up this book to share with them. It has become a favorite book to read for my youngest daughter, and I know your kids will love it, too!

My Thoughts:

Even though my girls are chapter book readers, they both wanted to read this book, as they love Eric Carle. Their favorite books when they were little were Brown Bear, Brown Bear and The Hungry Caterpillar.  And, every year we travel out to the Eric Carle Museum to spend the day in the library and do crafts in the art room.  It was nice to see this book arrive with the other new releases from Simon & Schuster.

If you have a beginner reader, this is a great book to start them off with, as it have popular sight words, rhyming sentences and repetition which help young readers blossom.  And, at the end of the book there are a few questions to ask your kids to help them with reading comprehension, too.
