The Just Dance rhythm dance series from Ubisoft is celebrating 10 years of turning out best selling games.  Ubisoft released the original Just Dance back in 2009 for the Wii, and has been turning out releases for Wii and other gaming platforms since thing.  Just Dance has become a staple in our house, ever since the girls started walking.  They love to dance, and the Just Dance games let them dance to the heart's content, get some exercise in especially during the cold winter months, and also offers hours of fun for them playing alone or with friends and family.  And, when the holidays roll around and family and friends come to visit, they also know the girls are ready and waiting to challenge them to a dance off with the latest Just Dance game. :-)

This year's release is Just Dance 2020, and it released back on November 5th, for the Nintendo Switch, Wii, Playstation 4, XBox One, and Stadia.  I was happy to see them release this new game for the Wii, even though it has been a discounted console since 2013. My girls have a Wii in their bedroom, and this is the one we have been using since we introduced the girls to Just Dance years ago.  I ended up buying a copy of this game for our Wii, but also was sent a download code from the folks at Ubisoft to try out with my girls' Nintendo Switch.

If you are familiar with the Just Dance games, then you know how the games are set up.  You follow along and mimic the on-screen dancers, as the music plays.  The closer you get to to copying all their dance steps, the better your score will be.  If you have a Wii, you will need the Wii remote to play.  And, as far as the Nintendo Switch, the game works best with the Joy-Con remotes over the smartphone app.

My girls are loving all the chart topping hits that are included with the new Just Dance 2020. Some of their favorites are:

High Hopes - Panic! at the Disco

I Don't Care -- Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber

Into the Unknown (the new hit song from Frozen II) - Idina Menzel featuring Aurora

Bad Guy -- Billle Eillish

Talk - Khalid

Old Town Road - Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus

There are 40 hit songs included with the new Just Dance 2020...the above are just stand outs that my girls love dancing along to, and learning the fun choreographed dance moves to.  We have only had the Just Dance 2020 for the Nintendo Switch for a few days, and it has become an instant hit with my girls.  They wake wanting to play the game, and will usually opt not to watch television at night time, just so that they can do a dance off against everyone in the house.  My husband is not a big dancer, but loves to get up and dance all about with the girls. And, being competitive, he tries his hardest to stay in sync with the on-screen dancers in hopes of winning. :-)

If you are a family who buys all the new Just Dance releases each year to add new songs to the dance mix, then you will also want to know about Just Dance Unlimited, which is a subscription service that allows you access to an additional 500 songs, thus offering an abundance of song and dance style for the whole family to enjoy.

We got a free month of Dance Unlimited when we bought the girls their Switch last month, so they have been enjoying trying out all the different songs.  So far, they have only done about 50-60 of the songs available, and love the selection available.  Once our free trial ends, I plan to continue the subscription as the girls really get into playing Just Dance games when the winter hits and they find themselves inside with nothing to do.  Just Dance 2020 will definitely keep them busy and entertained, and work up a sweat, too!  There really isn't much of a difference in the setup of the the new Just Dance 2020 game compared to last year's Just Dance 2019 release.  There is an All Stars mode that celebrates the series 10th anniversary, and is a nice addition. But, other than that, if you pick up this game for the new hit songs, you will be off and running from the start as the setup and modes are practically the same as last years -- which is a good thing for those who don't like to sit and read instructions or learn the new game modes, like my husband and girls.

I could go on and on about how great the new Just Dance 2020 game is?  But, if you have been a fan of this video game series since its release in 2009, or along the way, then you probably already have the new Just Dance 2020 game on your radar to pick up and share with your family for the holidays.  If your kids are asking for a few new video games for the holidays, this game is a must have, especially with all the great hit songs.  We are loving Just Dance 2020, and I know once you get up and dance along to the Just Dance 2020 on screen dancers, you will be hooked on this game, too!
