We usually read the same Nativity story each year leading up to Christmas.  But, this year, I wanted to change things up and add a new book that tells the story in a different light.  My search led me to the "A Pirate Christmas" book, and once I flipped through the pages of this book, I knew it was just what I had been looking for.

As the name suggests, this book tells the nativity story through the eyes of pirates.  Yes, you read that right...pirates.  What child doesn't love pirates?  I know my two girls love pirate stories, and were all smiles when I showed this new Christmas book we would be reading, and pairing with a fun activity book that goes with the story.

Not only was the story cute and one that will keep even the youngest of listeners engaged and entertained, but the illustrations that fill the pages of this book are colorful and playful.  It is like the story is coming alive on the pages as you flip through and read this holiday story.  Kids will be reminded about the true meaning of Christmas when they reach the end of the book, and this can be discussed further as a family, before you share the fun activity book (sold separately), which includes puzzles, crafts and stickers to go along with the super fun "A Pirate Christmas" book.

About the Activity Book:

"Arrrrrr, it's time to celebrate Christmas, pirate style!

Join the pirate Christmas party with these fun activities, including make your own pet guinea pig, draw your own treasure map and cook some party treats. Use stickers to retell the Christmas story."

We have only had this book for a couple of weeks, but I have already lost count on how many times my girls asked me to read it to them at bedtime.  And, when I am not reading it to them, they are pulling it from the shelf to read on their own.  they really like this retelling of the nativity story, told through a pirate's eyes.  If you are looking for a fun new holiday book to share with your pirate-loving kids, I highly recommend "A Pirate Christmas."  And, be sure to pick up the activity book to go along with it.

It is only $6.99 and filled with fun activities and crafts for your kids to enjoy after they read the story with you.
