Welcome in Fall with a Good Book: Taxi Ride with Victor (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent a review copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

If your kids are into Outer Space and aliens, then they will love the new picture book, "Taxi Ride with Victor" released by Prestel Junior back at the end of September.  I was recently sent a copy of this book to share with my girls, and it was a hit with them!  Ever since they learned about Space and the planets in school, both of my girls have been obsessed with what could live on other planets.  They have drawn countless drawings of aliens that they think could give on other planets -- some friendly and some I wouldn't want to meet. :-)  So, when they saw this book and the cover art showing a taxi in Space they couldn't wait to read it with me.

This picture book contains 40 pages, and is geared towards children ages 4-8 years old.  The story itself is easy to understand and follow along, and the illustrations really help to bring the story to life, and will have kids imagining their own aliens who Victor may see when he goes on another adventure into outer space.  My youngest kept talking about how Victor has such a cool job -- being able to drive his taxi into outer space, and how he gets to meet all different aliens.  Yes, Victor may be forgetful as he gets lost a lot, but just being out in the galaxy seems like a cool job, and one my daughter said she would love to do.

As you read this cute book with your kids, get ready to meet talking clouds, a huge octopus, grumpy ghosts, and so many more fun passengers who get into Victor's space taxi.  They will be dropped off for things we do like going to the dentist, visiting the library and even going to our local post office.  Kids will love seeing these aliens in familiar places that humans visit, all while learning about friendship and opportunity.  We have only had this book for a short time, but it has become a staple at bedtime with my girls. And, when I am not reading it to my girls at bedtime, they are pulling it from the shelf to read on their own, or try and draw some of Victor's friendly alien passenger, to put them in new places like the supermarket, at the playground, and even the barber shop.  As you can see this book will get your kids thinking about different aliens that Victor might pick up on another adventure, and places he will have to drop them off to.

If you are looking for a cute space-themed book, I highly recommend "Taxi Ride with Victor" which is available now in bookstores, as well as online at Amazon.

More about this book:

"This sci-fi inspired taxi trip will have kids roaring with laughter.

Victor is everyone's favorite extraterrestrial taxi driver, but he has a big problem. His memory is terrible! He can never remember his way around the galaxy. When he drops off his passengers at the wrong locations, there are some unexpected and hilarious high jinks. Elsa Klever's wonderful drawings incorporate every day experiences--like going to the dentist, the library, or the post office--into otherworldly scenes with friendly aliens, talking clouds, grumpy ghosts, and an enormous octopus. The book offers gentle lessons about friendship and opportunity, and children will want to join Victor again and again on his funny, mixed-up, and carefree rides."

Taxi Ride with Victor by Sara Trofa and illustrated by Elsa Klever (Prestel Junior; 9/24/2019;  ISBN: 978-3791374062; Hardcover $14.95; Ages 4-8; 40 pages)
