Say Goodbye to Cable Once and For All...And Hello to Disney+ on 11/12 -- So Many Great New Series and Movies for the Whole Family to Enjoy Together!

Disclosure: I was provided with early access to some of the new Disney+ content in exchange for an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Did you take advantage of the 3-year last month for the Disney+ streaming service?  This streaming service is what made me get rid of my current satellite service, as I knew that my whole family could just watch this one streaming service for all their entertainment needs. Come one, who doesn't love Disney movies and shows?  And, now you don't have to worry about them going away each month on other streaming services, as they will be on Disney+ when it begins streaming service on 11/12.  If you don't have this date circled on your calendar yet, you will definitely want to do it after reading this post, as you will not want to miss out on all the great Disney programming which will include almost all the Disney movie and television shows that ever aired, as well as some amazing new shows and movies, which you don't want to miss!

Thanks to the folks at Disney+, my family got a sneak peek at a handful of their new shows, as well as the must anticipated live action version of Lady and the Tramp, and we have been having a blast checking them all, and finding new favorite shows to tune in and watch once our Disney+ subscription begins on 11/12.

Here are the shows that my family has been enjoying, and that you will definitely want to check out with your whole family come 11/12 on Disney+...And, if you haven't already signed up for Disney+, now is the time to do so, as you will not want to miss a thing....

"Executive producer Kristen Bell brings together former castmates of a high school musical, tasking them with re-creating their original performance in high school reunion like no other. Emotions run high as the former students face faded friendships, former flames, self-doubt, and killer choreography."

Episode 101 “Annie” | Premieres Nov. 12 on Disney+
Episode 102 “Beauty and the Beast” | Premieres Nov. 15 on Disney+

My Thoughts:

My youngest daughter and I watched the first two episodes of Encore! and loved them!  While I was never in drama club or performed in a school play in high school, I did have many friends who were in the school plays.  And, as I sat and watched ENCORE!, I wondered what it would be like if they all got back together to perform a school play like Grease.  It would be a little funny as we are all in our 40's now, but after watching the first two episodes on this new Disney+ series, it made we wonder what if. :-)

What I really loved about this series, next to seeing the reunions of the former students, was how they were able to prepare for the one-night show in 5 days.  There was new choreography to be learned, as well as memorizing lines and songs from years ago.  I really liked seeing the whole thing come together, and see the strong bonds and friendships these former drama friends/students have, and how coming together all these years later was like a walk down memory lane for them, and let them relive their good 'ole drama days again, as many of the students never went on to pursue a career in the arts. So, this was like a fun do-over for them to relive the magic they felt on stage performing with their friends, all these years later.

If you were in the drama club or performed in a high school play, you will definitely want to check out this new series.  Even if you were, this is one series the whole family will love watching week after week to see the different emotions that are felt with the different high school reunions.  I can't wait to watch more episodes of ENCORE!, and I know once you watch the first episode,  you will be hooked, too!

"Forky, in Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” is a craft project created from trash, has important questions about how the world works, such as: What is love? What is time? And of course, the deepest question of all, What is cheese? He explores all of these questions and more in a collection of 10 shorts."

“What is Money?” | Premieres Nov. 12 on Disney+
“What is a Friend?” | Premieres Nov. 15 on Disney+

My Thoughts:

Toy Story 4 was a much anticipated movie this summer.  And, now the fun can continue with one of the newest Toy Story characters, Forky.  While he thought of himself as trash in the beginning of the movie, he realized in the end that he was a toy -- Bonnie's toy, and that he was loved by her, and had friends who cared about him including Jessie, Buzz, and Woody.  In this new collection of shorts, kids and adults will love tuning in to watch Forky explore a new question, with the help of other Toy Story characters.

My girls and I watched the first two shorts, and couldn't stop giggling and smiling, all the way through.  My youngest really loved the "What is a Friend?" short, which has Forky talking to a so called new friend, who is a coffee mug (Bonnie's Mom's coffee mug to be exact).  Don't worry, I will not spoil the short.  But, I will say that when you start watching it, and hear Forky address the mug, as a parent you can't help but laugh at what he says.  It really is a hoot.  The money short features Hamm and explains the importance of money to make purchases.

These shorts really are cute, and a fun way for kids of all ages, especially the younger crowd to learn about how the world works, with a little help from one of their favorite new Toy Story characters, Forky.  My girls and I can't wait to see what other questions Forky will be posing in the remaining collection of shorts (there will be 10 in total).

"The series, produced by Marvel New Media in partnership with MaggieVision Productions, reveals the remarkable, positive change several young heroes are making in their own communities. These young heroes have dedicated their lives to selfless acts of bravery and kindness, and now, Marvel celebrates them as the true Super Heroes they are."

Episode 101 “Sensational Jordan” | Premieres Nov. 12 on Disney+
Episode 102 “Incredible Elijah” | Premieres Nov. 15 on Disney+
Episode 103 “Unstoppable Adonis” | Premieres Nov. 22 on Disney+

"The 10-episode scripted series, set at the real-life East High, where the original movie was filmed, follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school's first-ever production of “High School Musical.” With meta references and some docu-style elements, it’s a modern take on the “classic” from 13 years ago."

Episode 101 “The Audition” | Premieres Nov. 12 on Disney+
Episode 102 “The Read-Through | Premieres Nov. 15 on Disney+

My Thoughts:

I was out of college and working when the High School Musical movies were a big thing. I think I watched the first movie, but never really got into them.  That was, until my girls started to watch them a couple of years again, after flipping through the channels and catching a marathon on Disney channel.  Since then, my girls will stop and watch the High School Musical movies whenever they play.  And, they also own all the DVDs, and will watch them a few times a year, at home and on the go.  Knowing just how much they love the High School Musical franchise, I knew they would be excited to see this new 10-episode scripted series, which will play only on Disney+.

This new series is a modern day take on the ever popular High School Musical classic, 13 years later. Yes, you read that right, it has been 13 years since the first High School Musical came out.  Fans of the original movies will love this new series, and those like my girls who got to experience these Disney classic musicals/movies years later will also love the new series.  Think of it like a mix between the musical and a tween/teen drama that you will see on the Disney Channel.  We have only watched the first two episodes, but are already hooked, and can't wait for more to release.  While there are only 10 episodes slated to release with the roll out of Disney+, I know that once people get a chance to watch this new series, more seasons will be requested and released.  Don't worry, I am not going to go into detail on favorite parts or scenes from the first two episodes, as I know this is one of the most talked about series to come to Disney+ and don't want to spoil it for High School Musical fans.

"Creating happiness is hard work. This six-hour saga by Academy Award nominated director, Leslie Iwerks, chronicles the sixty-seven year history of Walt Disney Imagineering, a place best described as equal parts artist studio, design center, think tank and innovation laboratory. This is where an eclectic group of creative people bring ideas to life. They’re responsible for building twelve theme parks around the world - the Happiest Places on Earth."

Episode 101 | Premieres Nov. 12 on Disney+
Episode 102 | Premieres Nov. 15 on Disney+

"In Disney+’s “Lady and the Tramp,” a timeless re-telling of the 1955 animated classic, a pampered house dog and a tough but lovable stray embark on an unexpected adventure and, despite their differences, grow closer and come to understand the value of home."

My Thoughts:

OMG, I am not usually a fan of remakes of classic Disney movies, but after seeing this movie with my girls the other day, I have changed my mind.. This movie was so good...so good in fact, that I couldn't wait to wake the next morning to watch it again with my girls.  We have only had access to the screeners for a few days, and have already watched this live action remake of the classic Lady and the Tramp three times so far.  And, we can't wait to watch it again this week, and then again and again once our Disney+ service begins on 11/12.

If you or your child loves talking dog movies, then you will want to check out this movie.  It isn't corny like some of the movies, and does the classic Disney tale justice in the retelling of the 1955 animated classic.  If you cry easily at heartfelt movies, you will want to have a box of tissues handy, as you will be reaching from them like my daughter and I were.  I am not going to spoil anything with this movie, as I know many people signed up for the Disney+ service just to see this movie. I, for one, was one of those people.  And, now that I saw this movie, I am in love with it, and hope it eventually ends up on DVD so that I can add to our Disney classic films collections. But, in the meantime, my girls and I will be watching this movie over and over again, and loving every minute of it!

Original Film Premieres Nov. 12 on Disney+

"In this new 12-part series, Jeff Goldblum takes us on an entertaining, insightful and playful ride! In each episode he pulls on the thread of a deceptively familiar object to unravel a world of astonishing connections, fascinating science and history. From sneakers, ice cream, coffee and cosmetics to everything in between, Jeff uncovers how even the simplest things have incredible, sometimes whimsical back stories. Through the prism of Jeff’s always inquisitive and highly entertaining mind, nothing is as it seems in this new series."
