Give the Gift of Reading to Little Ones with These New Board Books from Abrams Appleseed This Holiday Season! (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent review copies from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

One of my favorite gifts to give my girls and my nieces and nephews are new books for birthdays and holidays.  I know they expect toys, but once they get bored with toys, books are usually something they will continue to pull from the shelves to read, or ask you to read to them at bedtime.  I know for my two girls, they have always got excited about new books under the Christmas tree as they know that it is an opportunity for us to snuggle on the couch to read them together, or enjoy some quality one-on-one time at bedtime to read and enjoy the books.  And, if the books offer an interactive feature, like a pull the tab, sound or touch and feel, etc., the more fun they are.  So, when I was sent a stack of new board books recently from Abrams Appleseed, I knew I had to share them with you, as these books would make for great gift ideas for little ones this upcoming holiday season, either stuffed in their stocking, or wrapped as a stack with a bow and left under the tree.

Check out the fun new books from Abrams Appleseed that I received, and that are now available for purchase through online retailers like Amazon, as well as book stores and retailers who carry books nationwide...

About this Book:

"The life cycle of an apple, illustrated by acclaimed cut-paper artist Nikki McClure

This board book, featuring Nikki McClure’s signature papercuts, follows the journey of a bright red apple—the only splash of color in the otherwise black-and-white illustrations—as it travels from tree to harvest to snack to compost and, finally, to sprout. In the opening spread, a ripe, red apple falls from a tree, and a man gathers it to take home. His daughter takes the apple to school for lunch, but mistakenly drops it after taking a bite. Left on the ground, we see the apple buried as the seasons change and children come and go on the playground above. On the final spread, the buried apple has produced an apple tree sprout. A single word complements each illustration, urging early readers to reflect on each stage in the apple’s life."

About this Book:

"Follow Rudy as he searches for his favorite pink sweater in this interactive board book

Rudy is looking for his favorite pink sweater. It’s a little small—he’s growing out of it—yet he can’t help but treasure it! The nine jiving llamas haven’t seen it, and neither have the eight prima pigerinas. Lift the flaps and peek through the die-cuts as Rudy follows a trail of pink yarn from his bedroom to the kitchen to the backyard and everywhere in between. This sweet, adventurous story is filled with bold and humorous illustrations, plus a fun counting element along the way."

---

Even though my girls are older and have moved beyond board books, they both sat to help me review them, and found themselves having fun with the interactive books, which were always their favorites when they were little. These types of books were also the first books they learned to read on their own, so they were all smiles, knowing that these types of books were what got them excited about reading, and have helped them develop a love for books and reading. When we were done reading these books together, we donated them our local library, and have since heard from the librarian that they are really popular with parents with young children, and are hard to keep in stock.  :-)  I am so happy the little ones can enjoy these books, and hopefully it will spark a love for reading in them, that this publisher's books did with my girls, when they were younger.

The above mentioned board books are just some of the new releases from Abrams Appleseed, an imprint of Abrams Books.  You can check out there complete offering of books for little ones through teens over at https://www.abramsbooks.com/abramskids/.  I have been a fan of this children's book publisher for years, and my girls and I are never disappointed with the books we read from Abrams Books.  And, with the holidays fast approaching, the gift of reading is the best gift of all to give kids, as it offers families the opportunity to enjoy a new book together, snuggling up under a warm blanket on the couch with the Christmas tree all light up in the background, or at bedtime where you can spend some quality time with of your children.  Even though my girls are reading on their own, I cherish the opportunity to read to them at bedtime, as I love the extra cuddles and snuggles, before they drift off to sleep.  If you have little ones, the above mentioned books would make for great stocking stuffers, or gifted as a stack of new books under the tree, wrapped in a bow, and ready for you to share with them. :-)  Happy reading!
