This year we finally did away with our satellite service.  We were paying over $250 a month plus all the rental fees, and found ourselves watching only a handful of the 150+ channels in our lineup.  Many channels were also replaying the same shows or movies over and over again, so it started feeling like a waste of time to scroll through and look for things to watch, as it was the same old thing day after day.  But, like many families, it was hard to cut the cord, as we knew we looked forward to watching television, even if it was just to zone out at the end of the day. So, we started researching the different streaming services available, to make up for the lost satellite service and live channel feeds.  We ended up going with 3 of the popular streaming services, which cost us around $60 a month -- still cheaper than the $250+ we were paying.  As the months went on, we found ourselves busy with school and after school activities and always on the go on the weekends, that it wasn't worth keeping all these streaming services if we weren't watching them.  But, like with getting rid of satellite service, we found ourselves wondering how we would live without all the different options the three streaming services provided us. Even if we didn't watch them day in and day out, they were still there for us.  We eventually did away with two of them and now just have one.  We are paying around $11 a month for service, and love the savings!  To supplement our movie viewing needs, we rent movies through Redbox, for only $1.25 a day.  Renting through Redbox is much cheaper than renting movies through online streaming services which require you to watch a movie within 24-48 hours, or you lose out.

Because we no longer have the televisions in the house set up with cable and satellite boxes, we had to invest in a couple Roku devices to stream shows and movies.  Unfortunately, not all the televisions in our house have a Roku device, as they can be pricey if you need to buy 4+.  So, right now we have televisions that we aren't using as there is nothing attached to them and we don't get over the air local channels.  But, all that will be changing starting November 1st, when I visit my local Walmart store and pick up ONN DVD Players for each television in our house for only $19.96 each.

Each ONN DVD player purchase also comes with 5 Redbox movie rentals.  How great is this offer, right?

More about the promotion:

Just in time for the holidays, for a limited-time only, Walmart is offering five free rentals from their local Redbox with the in-store purchase of an ONN DVD player that only cost $19.96, available on November 1st. That’s less than renting four on-demand movies, making it a great deal for families and friends who are planning their next viewing party.
A friendly reminder that this promotion is ONLY available in stores, so there is no link for the product. The promotion is happening at all the Walmarts in the U.S.

---

We were recently sent one of the ONN DVD players from Walmart to try out, and are loving it.  It comes with text-to-speech technology, along with RCA connection cables and a remote control (with batteries included).

My oldest daughter was quick to claim the DVD player for her room, and even set it up herself in a matter of minutes.

Yes, a 9 year old can even set up the ONN and have it up and running, without fuss.  So, if you are not tech savvy or good with eletronics, you don't have to worry about calling family and friends to help walk you through setup or installation of this DVD player.

The price alone is worth picking up this DVD player.  But, when you add the 5 FREE Redbox rentals, it makes the deal even more sweeter.  I can see this being a great gift for the holidays, too. You could gift it to your children who have televisions in their rooms, or for your child away at college.  This is like two gifts in one with the free Redbox rentals and the DVD player itself....and all for only $19.96!

So, make sure you mark your calendar for November 1st, and plan to head to your local Walmart store to take advantage of this special offer of buying the ONN DVD player for only $19.96. Then, start planning your next family movie night with a FREE Redbox rental.  Be sure to read on, as I have two ONN DVD players up for grabs (complete with the 5 FREE Redbox movie rentals). :-)
