GKIDS AND SHOUT! FACTORY PRESENT
THE CASE OF HANA & ALICE
ON BLU-RAY™
SEPTEMBER 17, 2019

(Also available in digital and DVD formats)

“Funny and engaging! A highly likable film about hugely likable teens.”
– Andrew Osmond, Anime News Network

I am a huge Japanese anime fan, and was excited to hear that "The Case of Hana & Alice" was releasing to Blu-ray in North America, for the first time on Sept. 17th.  I saw this movie years ago when it was released in 2015.  At that time it was English dubbed with a smattering of Japanese throughout. I forget how or where I saw it, but I remember it being a great Anime movie. It is a teen-themed movie, as it is about two girls who become unlikely friends and try and solve a murder mystery, while also going through teen angst problems in their day to day lives.  Even though I am no longer a teenager, you can still relate to how these two girls felt as teens.

In addition to releasing on Blu-Ray, this new anime film also includes some amazing bonus content -- over 2 hours worth!  The bonus content along makes this a must see film for anime fans of all ages.  I ended up watching the bonus content first the other day, before sitting to watch the movie again. I loved the interviews with the voice actors and directors. Seeing these interviews made the film more enjoyable to watch when I sat to watch it with my husband.  My husband is getting into anime movies thanks to many streaming platforms now adding anime to their movie offerings.  I asked my husband what he thought about the movie when it was over, and he was quick to say it was really good.  He, too, loved all the bonus content, and is up to watching this movie again soon.  :)

If you are a fan of Anime or have seen this movie in the past and have been waiting for it to arrive on Blu-ray, you are now in luck, as it will be available on Sept. 17th from Shout! Factory and GKIDS.  Be sure to read on after the synopsis of the movie, which includes the official trailer, for a chance to win 1 of 3 copies of this new Blu-ray up for grabs. :-)

More about this upcoming Blu-Ray release:

"The marvelous anime film The Case of Hana & Alice will be available in North America for the first time on September 17, when it comes to Blu-ray™ from GKIDS and Shout! Factory. The release includes over two hours of bonus features, including a greeting from the film’s premiere and a message from animator Makoto Shinkai (Your Name) that are exclusive to the physical release.

When Alice transfers to a new middle school, she hears an urban legend about a student who disappeared the previous year and is suspected to have been killed by his fellow students. Even worse, Alice discovers that she lives next door to his former house, supposedly haunted home, now occupied by a reclusive classmate named Hana.

Hana and Alice decide to investigate this “murder case” together, but soon find that their lack of detective skills may be an obstacle. This unusual and charming film from famed writer-director Shunji Iwai is a shaggy-dog mystery tale that ultimately gives way to a wonderfully nuanced story of young female friendship, and the fantasies and thrills of everyday teenage life."

·        Film Completion Press Conference
