Arriving on DVD, Digital Download and On Demand on February 24th -- "The Shift," Starring Danny Glover (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent a screener copy from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

It is hard to find a good medical drama on television or on DVD?  But, this past weekend I was in for a treat when I put on the upcoming DVD release from Cinedigm Entertainment, "The Shift" to watch.  This movie contains a stellar cast including Danny Glover, that work well together and make this ER drama feel real.  It has been awhile since I have seen Danny Glover in a movie, and he is amazing in this film, which is centered around a 12-hour ER hospital shift.

If you have been to an ER, then you know how crazy it is, and about the different cases that the doctors see.  Well, this movie is filled with difficult cases, that two nurses have to help.  One nurse struggles with spirituality, while the other plays God and will help a patient end their life, or even let them die so that they can be in peace.  The struggle between these two nurses, which seem to be playing good nurse and bad nurse, will draw you in from the start.  You wonder if these two will ever get alone and if the patients who find themselves in this ER will make it out alive.

Fans of medical dramas, and those who like nail biting thrillers, will love "The Shift".  My husband found himself enjoying this movie, and was trying to figure out how it would end, as I watched him talk back to the television at different parts of the film. :-)  If you are looking for a gripping film that will pull you in and keep you engaged from start to finish, then you will want to pick up "The shift" when it arrives on DVD, Digital download and On Demand, on February 24th.

More about this upcoming release...

Synopsis:
"In one 12-hour hospital shift in the ER a veteran male nurse, struggling with the haunting guilt of his brother’s drowning, is forced to train a new nurse. The two are at odds throughout the story, because, while they both struggle with the spiritual turmoil of right and wrong, they both come to very different philosophies. One plays life-saving nurse. The other plays God and allows patients to die or even helps them to die."
