Gift A Feast

"Want to spoil Mom this Mother’s Day? Shop at Gift A Feast for delicious, undiscovered artisan flavors from the San Francisco Bay Area's thriving food scene. Mom will be thrilled with the attention-to-detail of a Gift A Feast package. Tasty treats, beautifully wrapped, accompanied by a handwritten note, shipped nationwide, and all without leaving the comfort of your home."

While looking for unique gift ideas for my Mother's Day Gift Guide this year, I stumbled across Gift A Feast, which offers handcrafted delectable treats from the San Francisco Bay area's thriving food scene.  Each and every gift set ordered arrives gorgeously wrapped and adorned with festive ribbons, with a handwritten note card that you can personalize for the gift recipient.

As I browsed the Gift A Feast website, I was amazed at their product offering, and wished I could have one of each. :-)  Being a foodie, I love finding online stores like this one that offers foods from different regions.  And, while I have never been to San Francisco in person, over the years, I have taken advantage of online ordering and had sweets and treats delivered to my doorstep to savor.

I reached out to the folks at Gift A Feast, not only to request a sample to review for my gift guide, but praise them on a wonderful selection of gift sets for all occasions.  They graciously offered to send me their "Feast for Mom" to review, which I have to say was on my top 3 list of gift sets I was planning to hint to my husband to get. :-)  Within days of my email correspondence with the folks at Gift A Feast, my package arrived.  Wow! I couldn't get over the beautiful packaging of the gift set.  Yes, I had read online about how it comes wrapped in sustainable wrapping paper and tied with ribbons, but I wasn't expecting this...

Just looking at it wrapped like this, I didn't want to unwrap it.  But, knowing I had to review the items inside, and I was also curious to see the goodies that make up the "Feast for Mom" gift set, I slowly unwrapped the paper (which you can personally pick out), making sure not to tear the paper, so that I could reuse for another occasion. :-)

The "Feast for Mom" gift set, which retails for only $49.95 plus shipping and handling includes the following:

  • Bette's Oceanview Diner Orange Cranberry Scone Mix (16 oz.)
  • Rustic Bakery Vanilla Almond Granola (12 oz.)
  • June Taylor Santa Rosa Plum and Tayberry Conserve (8 oz.)
  • Coco Tutti box containing 2 each of the following rose-shaped truffles: Strawberry, Blackberry (2 oz.)
  • Allergens: nuts, milk, gluten

In addition to the handwritten personalized gift card you can include with each gift set, you will also find cards included in the gift card envelope that describe the different items in further details, including more about the artisans.  I loved the attention to detail that the folks at Feast A Gift provide with their gift sets.  Other gift sets I have received or given as gifts in the past never came beautifully wrapped, nor included more about the artisans.  I personally love supporting local artisans, so found the information cards for each product to be interesting to read.  They also prompted me to visit each of the artisans' website to read more and browse their complete product offering, which can be ordered and shipped.

While my girls are still too young to prepare breakfast in bed for me for Mother's Day, they do love to help out in the kitchen, mixing, stirring and taste testing.  So, I knew who to ask for help when it came time to make the orange cranberry scones from Bette's Ocean View Diner.

I have always loved scones, but have found that it is hard to find just the right one that is light and tender, and full of flavor.  Some fail by being to heavy, or lack flavor and end up being dressed up with a sugary glaze or crystallized sugar.  But, these scones from Bette's Oceanview Diner were out of this world good. And, the best part...they were easy to prepare and yielded 10-12 (3-inch) scones, which made it perfect for sharing.  While I like the idea of breakfast in bed, I would prefer to sit around the table and enjoy a meal with family and friends, while enjoying their company and great conversation.  These orange cranberry scones hit the spot and got everyone talking about how great they were.

I wish I could have said it was my own personal recipe, but I had to give praise to Bette's Oceanview Diner for their all natural, freshly milled flour scone mix. The flavors of the wild cranberries paired with orange, made for the perfect scone.

In addition to the scone mix, this gift set also included Coco Tuttie truffles.

Any chocolate lover, including myself would love to receive a box of truffles from Coco Tuttie. I was sent a 4-piece truffle sampler, which included raspberry, strawberry, Tayberry (raspberry and strawberry notes) and blackberry to enjoy.  Shh, don't tell my husband that this gift set from Gift A Feast included these truffles, as I hid them from gift set goodies, to enjoy during my "me time."  You can pair these truffles with wine, or simply nibble away, as you taste the different flavors of these stunning and oh so tasty truffles.  My personal favorite was the Tayberry, as it included two of my favorite berries, strawberry and raspberry).  Oh, how I wished that there were more than just the four, so that I could enjoy just a bit longer.  But, these truffles from Coco Tutti satisfied my taste buds and were the perfect ending to a long day with the girls.  I will definitely be picking up more of these truffles, and may even share with my husband next time.

The "Feast for Mom" gift set also included a June Taylor Santa Rosa Plum and Tayberry Conserve made by June Taylor.

I though she looked familiar as I read the description card, and then realized I had seen her on the Martha Stewart show a few years ago.  I love to add fresh jams and marmalades to toast in the AM, for a sweet treat, as I try and wake up for the day.  Upon taking a bite of toast that I had spread June Taylor's Santa Rosa Plum and Tayberry Conserve on, I could instantly tell that this was no ordinary conserve, and that June's product line is made with high quality organic fruits and ingredients.  This Santa Rosa Plum and Tayberry Conserve was full of flavor and simply put...amazing!  I can't wait to try other June Taylor jams, marmalades and even candied peels, as well as give some as gifts at the holidays to friends and family so that they can enjoy them, too.

Last, but not least, this gift set also included Vanilla Almond Granola from Rustic Bakery.

I wish I could personally tell you how the Rustic Bakery Vanilla Almond Granola tasted, but my husband beat me to it.  All he could say, as he chewed a handful of the granola was this it was "great" before sneaking away with a bowl to enjoy on while I finished preparing dinner.  If I ever make it to the San Francisco area, I will definitely be stopping by one of their three Marin County locations, to sample their handmade goodies and popular breakfast menu firsthand.

Overall, I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with the "Feast for Mom" gift set from Gift A Feast.

Not only did it arrive beautifully packaged and ready to give as a gift, but the goodies inside were delicious.  I can see why so many locals and fans of the artisans love their products. These handcrafted treats are made of high quality ingredients, and are sure to put a smile on your face as your enjoy each bite.  I don't know a mom who wouldn't love to receive this gift set or any other for that matter from Gift A Feast.  I have personally bookmarked this page, and will be visiting often to order gift sets for family and friends for birthdays and holidays, as well as hinting to my husband when he is looking for a gift for me. :-)

With only a couple weeks left until Mother's Day, don't delay in placing your order at Gift A Feast for your mom or special mother-figure in your life.  I can't wait to hear what you think of these gift sets, and if you were able to personally enjoy the "Feast for Mom" as a gift from you family.  I loved the gift set, and know you or whoever you purchase it for, will too!
