My Thoughts:

This was yet again another movie I missed when t was in theaters.  While it is a Disney movie and great for families to watch together, I was hoping to go with a group of girlfriends out to dinner and then to see this movie, as we all love Johnny Depp.  But, every time we scheduled our dinner and movie night, one of the kids would get sick, or something would come, so we would have to postpone.  Then, when we were all finally ready to see the movie, it wasn't in theaters anymore.  Go figure!

So, we have been patiently waiting for this movie to arrive on DVD and Blu-ray so that we could get together and watch, and then share with our families.  You can only imagine how excited I was when I received an advanced screener copy last week.  It took all my will power not watch the movie before my girlfriends and their kids came over this Sunday to watch it.  :-)

Even though we didn't have dinner and a movie, it was great to get all the moms and kids together to watch a wonderful family-friendly Disney movie.  I grew up watching the Lone Ranger on television, as my father was a huge fan.  And, I oftentimes wondered as an adult why there wasn't a present movie about the Lone Ranger.  I guess Jerry Bruckheimer heard my request and knew that Johnny Depp was the guy to play Tonto, the dark and mysterious vigilante.

Filled with action and adventure from the time the movie begins to the rolling credits.  Families will enjoy this movie that introduces viewers to the Lone Ranger and Tonto, who work together to fight against greed and corruption.  This movie is considered a western, an action comedy and had comedic scenes interspersed throughout. While I wouldn't recommend watching with young children, as it has blood and violent fight scenes, older children will sit and enjoy this new spin on the age old Tonto and the Lone Ranger relationship and their need to work together to keep the peace and tackle good and evil.

I was so happy I was finally able to watch this movie, and have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.  And, the blooper scenes, which make up part of the bonus feature had everyone cracking up. This is definitely one new release worth picking up and adding to your family's stocking this holiday season.
