"Two-time Oscar® Winner Tom Hanks* received his first Best Actor Nomination for his disarming turn as a 12-year-old man-child in Penny Marshall’s timeless, “hilarious” (Newsweek) delight. Tired of being a kid, Josh Baskin wishes he was big. When he wakes up the next day, he’s an adult! Now, Josh must hold down a job – and please a new boss (Robert Loggia). Tougher still, he must convince his best friend that he’s still himself, and explain to a beautiful woman (Elizabeth Perkins) who falls for him, that he’s not. Soon, Josh just wants to be a kid again, but can he? As exhilarating as it was during its acclaimed debut, the “warmhearted” (The Washington Post) Big is available as a Blu-ray + DVD combo pack!"

My Thoughts:

This is yet another movie celebrating an anniversary, that makes me feel old.  I remember seeing this movie in theaters a handful of times with my family, and falling in love with Tom Hanks.  He nailed this role and really made you feel true emotion for his struggles between being a kid and wanting to be an adult.  Even as a kid watching this movie, I couldn't help but want to stay young for a little while longer.  Being an adult brought so many responsibilities, and is not what kids think it is -- all fun and games.

Everyone when they hear the movie title, will instantly think of the piano scene. This is one of the most memorable scenes, next to the fortune telling machine or Tom Walks talking down the street as an adult, as he turns back into a kid, leaving him wearing an oversized suit. :-)  Sorry, I can't help but smile as I think of this great film, and one that really put Tom Hanks on the acting map.  While my girls are too young to ready appreciate the acting and storyline of this iconic movie, I can't wait to share it with them when they get a little older.  They did, however, get introduced to the "Heart and Soul" and "Chopsticks" songs, as the 25th anniversary edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack came with a built in sound module, that when you opened up the front flap of the movie case, the sound played.  The girls get grabbing the movie case and opening and shutting the flap, just that they could listen to the music. And, when this memorable scene in the toy store played, I couldn't help but share it with them.  Their eyes lit up and huge smile came across their faces, just like me.  They, then asked for the scene to be played a few times, which I didn't object to -- come on, it's "Chopsticks."  Savannah took her piano floor mat out and started trying to master "Chopsticks".  While she doesn't have it down yet, maybe one of these days her mom with impress her and show her how its done. :-)

With the holidays fast approaching, this would be a great movie to pick up and share with your family on movie night.  Or, if you grew up in the 80's and loved this movie and can't count the number of times you have watched it on VHS, television, etc., why not ask Santa to bring you this special 25th Anniversary Edition, that you can relive your favorite "Big" moments at home, with your family. :-)
