Synopsis:

"Looking for a way to kick-start summer reading? Sterling Children’s Books has a wonderful new board book perfect for early readers, We Go Together! (9781454900238; $6.95; Spring 2013) by Todd Dunn.

What goes together perfectly? A child and this spirited book all about things that belong with each other—like “fire and dragon” or “cow and moo.” With irresistible rhythm and rhyme that begs to be read aloud, and joyful art, it's a delight for parents and children to share.

In addition, half of all sales of the book go to benefit the kids at the Eternal Hope Children’s Home (www.ehch.org) to help purchase books, clothes, and other basic needs."

My Thoughts:

I only received this book a few days ago, but it has already become a hit with both of my daughters.  Thankfully it is a sturdy board book, as it is getting so much handling time with the girls.  I even had to pull it out from under Arabella the other evening, after she fell asleep flipping through the pages, looking at the beautiful illustrations.

I don't know about you, but I love reading rhyming books to the girls.  Not only are they fun to read, but I love seeing how children's authors pair words together, to not only make them fun to read out loud, but also make sense.   In this 2013 release from Todd Dunn, he does an amazing job with his rhyming skills.    Each page of this 22 page board book contains short sentences that show how we go together.  My girls couldn't help but giggle the first time I read this book to them.  Some of the ones the girls liked included:

"We go together like a pillow and a bed."
"We go together like a chicken and her eggs."
"We go together like ice cream and cone"

Because of the amazing illustrations done by Miki Sakamoto, the words come alive on the pages.  I didn't even have to read the words, as Savannah would tell what I was talking about just by looking at the illustrations.  On a few occasions, I forgot she couldn't read yet, as she was describing what she saw, following the repetitive phrase "We go together like XXX and YYY."

This book will continue to get played with and read by the girls and I for quite some time, as it really is a fun and enjoyable book to read.  Little ones will enjoy the rhyming scheme on each page, while beginner readers will feel confident as they sound out words and begin reading from the pages of Todd Dunn's recent release, "We Go Together!"  So, why not pick up a copy of this book today, and share with your child, as you let them know "We Go Together Like..." :-)
