Curious George® Premieres its Seventh Season on PBS KIDS with an Australian Adventure Featuring

"Curious George, television's number one series for preschoolers[*], opens its seventh season on PBS KIDS with a trip down under and a special appearance by animal conservationist Bindi Irwin. In "Monkey Down Under," George and The Man with the Yellow Hat head south for an Australian Outback Adventure. While The Man with the Yellow Hat goes sea cow sightseeing, George stays behind to investigate a set of giant footprints in the sand. Could it be a mysterious hopping clown rabbit? Or perhaps...a baby kangaroo?! Tune-in as Bindi teaches George about koalas, emus, kangaroos and more starting Monday, December 3, 2012 on PBS KIDS (check local listings).
"I was so excited to be a part of Curious George," says Bindi Irwin. "He's my favorite monkey, I've loved him my whole life. It's wonderful he could help me teach kids about the beaut bonza animals that live around my home at Australia Zoo."
"Monkey Down Under" kicks off a full season of animal-themed Curious George episodes. Throughout the new season, George learns about a wide range of mammals, reptiles, insects and birds. Online, parents will find special activities to help satisfy their little monkey's curiosity about animals. Parents can download "Exploring the World of Animals" for tips on identifying animals in their own neighborhoods. They can also print out George's Butterfly Hide-and-Seek activity sheet for coloring butterflies and get the "Act Like an Animal!" activity, which helps children make a "critter catcher."
"Curious George is a trusted source and a proven ally to help kids learn about the world around them," says Senior Vice President of Animation Production for Universal 1440 Entertainment Ellen Cockrill. "This season he'll use his curiosity to guide kids through exploring different types of animals."
"We knew putting a monkey and a kangaroo together would make for a great episode," says executive producer Dorothea Gillim. "Bindi Irwin serves as the perfect guide to introduce Australia's unique animal world to George and young viewers at home."
The season premiere is followed by two more brand-new episodes airing Tuesday and Wednesday, December 4-5 (check local listings). A complete list of new episodes and storylines airing that week is detailed below:

George, Allie, and Bill Go On a late-night search for a mysterious creature - the Perseids. But taking pictures in the dark is hard enough without making noise that would scare away their camera-shy guests. They'll need a new way to communicate...in a flash!

"We Otter Be Friends"
After an otter swims away with Mr. Quint's boat keys, a stranded George tries everything he can to retrieve them. But the otter is a faster swimmer, a quicker runner, and a better hider than George. Can George out-otter the otter and get the keys back?
"Sir George and the Dragon"
George is starring in his first play. Under the hot stage lights, George falls asleep and dreams he's a guarding a medieval castle! Can the clever monkey figure out how to keep Dragon Charkie out of the castle and be the hero of the play?

"Hundley Jr."
What's long, low to the ground, and loves to clean milkweed off the lobby floor? Hundley's newest friend and caterpillar, Hundley Jr! But when Hundley is torn between looking after the lobby and caring for his new friend, he turns his lobby duties over - to a monkey!
"Curious George Gets Winded"
Bill needs one more newspaper delivery to win the coveted Golden Pouch, but a big snowfall ruins his chances. Even with George's help, there's no way he can deliver all those papers in time. Can George's monkey-made wind sled help the duo sail to victory?

My Thoughts:
I grew up watching Curious George, and loved reading books about this silly monkey with my mom. and, now 30+ years later, I am watching Curious George again, but this time with my own daughters. It is a bittersweet moment as I get to share some of my childhood memories with my own children. Can you believe that Curious George has been on for 7 years on PBS Kids? It is one of the most watched shows amongst preschoolers, and I can see why. :-) Who can resist this cute little monkey and the man in the yellow hat?
I was excited to receive a screener copy of the first few episodes for the new 7th season, premiering on PBS Kids on Dec. 3rd. As soon as I received it in the mail, I didn't hesitate to put it on and gather the girls up to watch these brand new episodes, which take Curious George and the man with the yellow hat down under. There, they meet Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late Steve Irwin. It is so nice to see Bindi carrying in her father's footsteps, as she shares a love for animals like he did.
Don't worry, I am not going to give away what happens in the episodes that I watched, as I know you will want to tune in with your little ones to watch. Just know that they will entertain the entire family. Savannah had a blast learning about the different animals found in the Outback. And, with Bindi sharing her knowledge of these animals, young viewers will be able to grasp and learn about them, which is great.
So, make sure you tune in on Dec. 3rd to PBS Kids to watch season 7 of Curious George. If you can't see it live, make sure you record it, as it is definitely worth viewing. :-) I know as we have already watched the screener DVD a handful of times in the past two days.
