Affectionately nicknamed ”the Grateful Dead for kids,” Ben Rudnick
& Friends create a jam band dynamic that takes their concerts and
recordings to a stratospheric level. The band’s instantly identifiable
brand of adventurous musicianship soars across a spectrum of bluegrass,
western swing, reggae, country, folk, and the many flavors of rock.
My Thoughts:
If you have never heard Ben Rudnick and Friends, then you are missing. During our summer travels this year, I had the opportunity to listen to Ben Rudnick and Friends' new album, Love is a Superpower. This CD had everyone in the car tapping our feet and clapping our hands. When I would turn around from the passenger seat, I loved seeing both Savannah and Arabella smiling and grabbing each other' hands, to sway to the music.
Like other albums, this new release has a great jazzy feel, that will entertain children of all ages. I found myself listening to the CD when I was in the car running errands by myself. All the songs on the CD make you get happy and smile from ear to ear. I especially loved their cover of the Beatles song, "Here Comes the Sun." Savannah couldn't stop dancing around the house to "A Little Boogie" and "Wake Up Happy." It is so nice to see the girls getting exposed to bluegrass, reggae, country, folk and jazz music at such a young age and love it, thanks in part to Ben Rudnick and Friends.
I am so excited as we will be seeing Ben Rudnick and Friends live for the first time, when they make an appearance at the Warner Fall Foliage Festival in Warner, NH on October 7th. If you live in MA, they will also be having a CD release party at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA on October 13th.
