I don't know what it is with building blocks, but if you put them in front of children as young as 8 months through teens, they will amuse themselves for hours. We bought Savannah Mega Bloks when she was 6 months old as a way to help her grip things, but never thought she would play with them on a daily basis from then on out. And, today, with over a dozen Mega Bloks kits in our home, she and her little sister, Arabella can spend hours building and knocking down their towers and sculptures. I admit that it is fun, and at times I find myself playing like a kid again right alongside them, to see who can build the highest or most unique structure. Hey, it is a great stress reliever. :-)

We had a blast playing with these new, bigger and easier to hold blocks, and trying to recreate the models we saw on the iPad. As a parent, I liked how the instructions were animated and were easy to understand for little ones to follow along. Savannah was so proud after completing each model, that we had to take photos and send along to Nana and Papa, so that they could see all the cool animals and vehicles she was able to make. Our youngest, Arabella, who is eight months old, has the best time out of all of us, as these first blocks were made just for her little hands. She was amazed at the bright and colorful blocks, and kept clapping each and every time she successfully put two pieces together and they stuck.
Like I said, we have been playing with and buying Mega Blocks since Savannah was 6 months old. I am loving all the new products that are releasing from this popular brand and seeing apps like the Let's Build FREE app to use in conjunction with the blocks. In addition to the new app and First Builders bloks, Mega Bloks has also introduced a new line of Spider Men building sets for children ages 6 and up, who are fans of this comic book character. I was sent their Bridge Showdown building set, which recently came out, and gave to my husband to do with our nephew. As I watched them building the Spider-Man Jeep and Lizard Attack Walker, I couldn't help but notice how excited my husband was getting as he saw these vehicles coming together. Just like I felt when I was playing with the First Builders bloks with the girls, he, too, felt like a kid again. And, when the two vehicles were done, he got on the floor with my nephew and battled each other with the vehicles and actions figures.
So, as you can see depending on your child's age and character favorites, Mega Bloks has a building set right from them. I know as I just picked up a Hello Kitty building set for one of Savannah's friends for her birthday. I am so happy to be apart of the Mega Bloks Family Club, where I get emails with special offers and new.
