Summary:

Everyone’s favorite fairy princess is going to be the flower girl in Aunt Sue’s wedding! In Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamilton's THE VERY FAIRY PRINCESS: HERE COMES THE FLOWER GIRL!, Gerry realizes it will be a small garden wedding instead of the lavish event of her dreams, and sets out to put her creative sparkle on everything from cakes to favors.

My Thoughts:

I love it when famous celebrities like Julie Andrews decide to write children's books.  Each and every time I stumble across a book written by actors/actresses whom I admire, I am in awe of not only their talent, but of the book I get to read and share with my daughters.  This book is no exception.  If the whimsical and playful cover doesn't catch your eye and make you want to open the book up and read it, you will be hooked after reading the first page.

When I first showed the book to Savannah, she spent a few minutes feeling the cover of the book, as it had glitter all over it. She loves sparkly things -- don't all girls?  As we nestled on the couch together, I couldn't wait to open the book and share this story with her.  This book is part of the the #1 New York Best Selling Series, The Very Fairy Princess.  But, it was the first in the series that we had read.  I had seen these books at the bookstore and had been meaning to pick them up, but always got sidetracked.  So, when I was sent this new release to review with Savannah, I couldn't wait to dive right in and read it with her.

The book follows Gerry, who is chosen by her Aunt Sue to be the flower girl in Aunt Sue's wedding.  Gerry wants to help out with the wedding preparations, putting her own personal touch and sparkle on things like the wedding cake, signage, etc.  But, when the wedding doesn't go as planned, Gerry learns a valuable lesson, that when it comes to a wedding, what matters most is happiness and love.  This is what brings a couple together and keeps them together.  And, with this lovely written and illustrated story, young girls will enjoy this book about their favorite fairy princess, Gerry, as she lends her hand at adding glitter to her Aunt's wedding.

After finishing the story, which was written by Julie Andrews and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, I can see why this and the other two The Very Fairy Princess books are New York Best Selling Titles.  It is nice to see a series for young girls that not only lets them pretend to be fairy princesses, but also shares lesson about love, happiness, family and friendship.  I can't wait to pick up the other two books in this series to share with Savannah, as we eagerly await future releases.

If you haven't had the opportunity to read this or The Very Fairy Princess titles from Julie Andrews and her daughter, and have your own princess at home, why not pick up one of these best selling books today.  You will not be disappointed.

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this book by the publisher in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
