What child doesn't like puzzles? Since Savannah was able to pick up and hold objects, so began her love for puzzles. Recently, I stumbled across a company, Ravensburger, who created a puzzleball for young children (ages 4-6), which when put together forms a ball, that can be opened and used to store little treasures. How cool does this sound? Well, I had to check this puzzle out for myself, and see what Savannah thought. Thanks to the kind folks at Ravensburger, who sent along the Animals and Their Babies 3D puzzleball for review. I ended up doing this puzzle with Savannah, while she was sick last week, and we had a blast putting it together.
With the help of a plastic aid and frames, Savannah and I had so much fun figuring out how the 40 puzzle pieces fit together to form a ball. And, when all was said and done, Savannah had a ball made from puzzle pieces, which could be opened, so she could store little trinkets. She ended up putting a few of her Toy Story figures in the ball, and surprised Daddy when he came home with her hidden treasure ball. Since making this ball last week, Savannah has asked me at least once daily to do it again. So, when her little sister is napping, Savannah and I, take the ball apart and scatter the puzzle pieces on the floor, and then work together to piece this sturdy puzzleball back together. Each and every time we put it together, Savannah points out the animals on the ball, and we count how many there are of each. I can't get over the beautiful illustrations of the animals, and love how the pieces fit together and stay in place, when forming this treasure ball.
This puzzle would make for a great gift idea, rainy day activity, or just to have on hand for grandparents or parents to share and bond over with young children.
