The Straw-lution Straw -- The Straw That Goes In, But Doesn't Come Out! (Review)

I stumbled upon the Straw-lution straw when I was doing a Spotlight on Mommy post with Dhana Cohen, the creator of The Next Big Zing Awards.  The Straw-lution straw and it's creator, Jamie Wallace (another mom entrepreneur/inventor), took home the title of Winner of the Kid's Category for 2012.  What a great honor, and I can see firsthand why Dhana and the other judges loved this product so much, as I recently had the opportunity to try it out with Savannah.  This BPA-Free and dishwasher safe straw is unlike any other I have tried, as it actually stays put.  Once I push it through a juice box, pudding cup, yogurt cup, etc., it is stuck there until I take it out.  These straws can be reusable or discarded, making them great for on-the-go travel.

Jamie kindly sent me a package of her pink straws, as well as a sampling of the other colors available (yellow, blue and green), along with two plastic cups with lids, for Savannah to try out.  At first, I was hesitant that this straw would actually stay put, as others that claimed this, fell out or Savannah could pull out.  But, as soon as I filled the plastic cup I was sent, put the lid on, and then pushed a straw through the opening, it was staying put, until I took the lid off and pulled it through the opposite side.  When I handed Savannah the cup, she felt like a big girl, holding her cup.

Like any curious child, she tried numerous time to pull the straw out of the cup, but was unsuccessful.  Where was this straw during the past few months, when I was cleaning up juice spills and pudding messes, due to Savannah experimenting and pulling straws out, as well as flicking the food off of her spoon.  Now, I can simply push the Straw-lution straw through her juice boxes and other portable snack cups, and Savannah can enjoy these tasty treats, while I don't have to worry about messy clean-up, or having to repeatedly give her a new straw.  The only negative thing I can think of with this straw is that it leaks when you tip a cup upside down, through the straw, as well as the opening where the straw was inserted.  I know that you are not supposed to tip a cup upside down, but toddlers like my daughter are always doing this, causing a mess.  But, overall, this straw does what it says it will --stays put -- and, I love this!!!

This past Monday, I held a mommy and me meet up group at my house and gave each child a juice box with a Straw-lution straw in it.  A few moms thought I was crazy, as they know their children love pulling the straws out, making a mess.  Everyone was impressed at how this straw, once inserted into the box, was there for good (or until you removed it).  What a great invention, and one that every mom should have in their home was the reaction from all the moms present.  I think I made these moms' day, when I let them take the straws home with them.  Since the meet up, I have received phone calls from my friends saying that they are loving this straw.  One mom even praised this invention as it let her have a sane lunch out at a restaurant with her young son.  Instead of picking up dropped straws, her son sat content with his juice and Straw-lution straw.  This is definitely a product that will make a mom's life easier -- as, it has mine for sure!!!
