My Thoughts:

Growing up, I was a huge fan of the Pound Puppies.  I remember when they came out with the stuffed dogs one Christmas, my parents waited at the toy store for over 4 hours just to get me one for Christmas.  Surprisingly, I still have this plush toy, and will be passing it down to my daughters.  So, it is only fitting that I introduce them to one of my favorite childhood cartoons, with this new DVD release.

Unfortunately, we don't have the HUB channel, which has been airing this cartoon series.  As a result, I have been eagerly awaiting this DVD release, to reminisce about my childhood, as well as see how Savannah reacts to these fun loving pups.  After receiving the DVD in the mail today, I surprised Savannah with an afternoon movie/mommy and me time.  Usually, I wait until Friday and the weekend to watch movies with her, while Daddy spends time with Arabella, but I couldn't resist.  So, while Arabella took her afternoon nap, I watched the five episodes that make up this DVD with her.  Savannah was hooked from the start.  She kept pointing to the pups and smiling, while she talked to them on the screen.  It was hard choosing a favorite episode as each were entertaining and just the right length for young viewers.  Savannah loved this DVD so much that when Daddy arrived home from work, she showed him the DVD case and kept saying "Doggies," as she pulled him towards the television and asked him to play the movie.  And, as I prepared dinner, they both snuggled on the couch and watched the Homeward Pound episode together.  My husband was not familiar with the Pound Puppies, but thought it was a cute animated series.  Now you know it is good if my husband enjoyed these types of cartoons.  Usually, he would pretend to watch the movie with Savannah, as he checks his email on his iPad.  But, I looked on, as he watched the episode from start to finish with her, and pointed out things to her.  It was great to see them bonding over one of all-time favorite childhood cartoons.

In addition to the 5 episodes, this DVD also offers a Learn to Draw Lucky bonus feature, where you  Savannah is too young to really enjoy this, but older children will have fun with this bonus feature.

I can't wait for more Pound Puppies episodes to come to DVD soon.  This will make for a great DVD collection to share with my girls!
