Annie's Launches First Organic Rising Crust Frozen Pizza (Review)

Annie's is thrilled to let you in on some exciting news: After years of bringing health-conscious families wholesome alternatives to traditional mac & cheese and snacks, Annie's has launched the first-ever certified organic rising crust frozen pizza!  The frozen pizzas are available at  Whole Foods Market™ nationwide in 11.5” inch family-sized varieties – including Uncured Pepperoni, Four Cheese,Supreme and Spinach & Mushroom – Annie’s new pizza features 8 grams of whole grain in every serving and a choice of certified-organic vegetables and meats, a great alternative for those pizza fans and families who seek a healthier option, but are not willing to sacrifice exceptional taste.

My Thoughts:

Who doesn't like pizza?  Every Friday in our house, we either make a homemade pizza, or buy one from a local pizza shop.  I hate when we are pressed for time and have to order out, as the pizza, even if ordered with healthy toppings, is always greasy  and leaves you feeling fat, guilty and thirsty from the salt.  So, when I heard that Annie's Homegrown was coming out with a frozen pizza line, exclusively at Whole Foods, I couldn't wait to try the out and see how they tasted.  Since Savannah began eating more solid foods, like mac and cheese and fruit snacks, I have been buying products from Annie's Homegrown.  I love how their products are  certified-organic and made without artificial colors or flavors.  Savannah just loved their white cheddar mac and cheese.  And, as a busy mom, I love how Annie's Homegrown offers microwave mac and cheese.  In minutes, I can have a warm bowl of mac and cheese on the table for lunch for her.

In addition to Annie's Homegrown mac and cheese, I can now add their line of frozen pizzas to our family favorites.  I headed to Whole Foods this past weekend and picked up Annie's Homegrown 4-cheese and supreme frozen pizzas to try.  Sunday, we had the four-cheese pizza and loved it.  Unlike other frozen pizzas, which either were too salty or tasted like cardboard, this pizza had flavor and the crust tasted great.  I am not a pizza crust fan, but found myself eating the entire pizza, crust and all.

We were going to wait until Friday to have the Supreme pizza, but my husband couldn't wait to try it.  So, yesterday we had this pizza from Annie's Homegrown for dinner.  The Italian sausage and uncured pepperoni were so tasty.  And, unlike other frozen pizzas, the onions and peppers had a crunch to them, and were not soggy.  With both Annie's Homegrown frozen pizzas, we didn't have leftovers.  This is a first, as we usually have 1-2 pieces left over, which my husband will eat over the weekend, or I will sneak a cold slice during a night feeding with Arabella.

When we head back to Whole Foods this weekend, I will be picking up the Spinach and Mushroom pizza to try.  Now, we can stock up on these healthy frozen pizzas and cook up when I don't have time to make a homemade pizza on a Friday night.  No more feeling guilty after eating an unhealthy and greasy take-out pizza, thanks to Annie's Homegrown and their new line of frozen pizza.
