Summary:

A young cancer patient collects 35 million greeting cards --- After eight-year-old Craig Shergold is diagnosed with a brain tumor, his mother is convinced that launching a worldwide campaign to break the Guinness World Record for receiving greeting cards will lead to a cure. As his story spreads, a skeptical newspaper reporter (Kirk Cameron) travels from the United States to England to observe the events firsthand, unaware that the journey with Craig and the family will change his life forever.

My Thoughts:

I recently watched this wonderful, heartfelt movie and couldn't stop reaching for the tissue box.  Being a cancer survivor myself, I could relate to what Craig was going through, and marveled at what a brave young man he is.
With the holidays upon us, you will see many televised movies about family, love and overcoming impossible odds.  This movie falls under the family and overcoming the impossible categories, and I have to say, it is one of the best movies I have seen in a while.

The cast do an excellent job in recreating this true story, making you as the view want to sit and see if the young boy achieves his family’s goal of breaking the Guinness World Record for received greeting cards, while hoping to find a cure for his disease.  Movies like this really put one’s own life into perspective and make you appreciate each day.  With the craziness of day-to-day tasks, etc., you sometimes lose site of this.  And, with the holidays upon us, now is a great time to sit back and really appreciate those who are in your life and your good health, and make a point to offer help or guidance to those who seek it.

If you are looking for a great movie to share with the family this holiday season, pick up The Miracle of the Cards today.  But, make sure you have tissues near you – you’ll need them.

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this DVD by the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
