Bring the whole family on an adventure this December as Lionsgate debuts The Three Investigators in the Secret of Skeleton Island on DVD and Digital Download. Based on the popular children's book series, "The Three Investigators," the adventure-seeking trio - Jupiter Jones (Chancellor Miller, TV's "Everybody Hates Chris"), Pete Crenshaw (Nick Price, Because of Winn-Dixie) and Bob Andrews (Cameron Monaghan, Showtime's "Shameless") - follow an invitation to South Africa to unlock the secrets to Skeleton Island. The first DVD starring the world's most famous kid detectives also includes a photo gallery and a trailer for the second film in the series, The Three Investigators in the Secret of Terror Castle.

Jupiter, Pete and Bob are no ordinary kids - they are world-renowned as The Three Investigators. Solving crimes and discovering secrets is all in a day's work for these three, but when they are invited to South Africa, they suspect something is amiss. Their investigator leads them to help a young girl escape from the dangers of Cape Town, then chase down an evil treasure hunter through the desert and mountains. Before they can go back home, they're in for a showdown with a mysterious and horrific creature named "The Tokolosh." Uncovering the secrets of Skeleton Island is quickly shaping up to be the most dangerous case the trio has ever had.

Pricing: DVD - $26.98

My Thoughts:

I was not familiar with the popular children’s book series, but was intrigued by the DVD cover illustration, as well as the fact the writer of classic movies like Pocahontas, The Prince of Egypt and Mulan also wrote this movie.  So..it had to be good, as I loved these other movies.

This past weekend, my husband and I had an in-house movie/date night, where we watched this DVD after the girls went to bed.  We couldn’t find any good movies On Demand or through Netflix, so we used this time to review DVDs to see if they were appropriate for Savannah to watch.  After watching this cute film, we were both in agreeance that it was a great family film to watch together.  And, then this past Monday I let a friend who has 3 boys watch this movie, and everyone loved it.  My friend’s sons were familiar with the book series, so they were eager to see this movie.  One of the son’s even watched it two times in one day.

So, if you children love this popular book series, or you are looking for a movie to share with the entire family for Friday night pizza and a movie, why not consider picking up a copy of this movie when it releases to DVD on Dec. 6th.  I just know that your family with enjoy it!

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this DVD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
