DVD Review: Babar, School Days and Best Friends Forever -- Classic Episodes Digitally Remastered to Share with Your Children

I remember growing up and watching Babar on television with my brothers.  So, when I found out they were still offering Babar movies, I had to get a couple and share them with Savannah.  I wanted to see if she had the same reaction of fun and excitement that I had as a child watching this classic series.

I had two recent digitally remastered and restored DVDs (which contained 4 classic episodes each), Best Friends Forever and School Days sent to me for review, and watched them Monday with my daughter.  Watching each of the DVDs brought back fond memories, and there were no drastic changes to the characters or storyline like other classic cartoons and animations from the 70's-early 90's that undergo digital remastering or editing.  It was nice to see the lessons that each episode taught young viewers, like cooperation, understanding and teamwork in the Best Friends Forever episodes, and acceptance, honesty and patience in the School Days DVD.  These lessons were easy to grasp and didn't leave parents and children searching for the underlying message in the movies like some other children's movies and cartoons, where you wonder as a parent if a lesson was actually being taught or not.

Because I limit Savannah's television time, and pre-screen movies and shows before I let her watch them, I didn't hesitate to share these two Babar movies with her.  And, as she gets older, I will let her watch these movies over and over again, and continue to add to her Babar collection as new DVDs in this classic series are released.  If you grew up watching Babar and have young children, you definitely need to pick up one or both of these releases and share them with your children.  They would make for a great Friday Night Flick night or to have on hand for a rainy day activity.  And, with school stating back up, these would be great movies to watch and discuss with your children as the lessons can be applied in their day-to-day interactions with friends, fellow students, teachers, etc.
