I love this time of year, as many of family-friendly television channels start to share their holiday show/movie lineups.  A couple weeks ago Hallmark Channel shared theirs, and I was quick to print it out. Like in years past, they will kick of their Countdown to Christmas on October 27th and run new and favorite holiday movies through the end of the year.  

Mark your calendars if you are a "When Calls the Heart" fan as this movie will air on Dec. 26th.  While Dec. 26th is a ways away, you can still get your "When Calls the Heart" fix by picking up the newly released 6-Disc DVD set from Shout! My mom and I always make a point to watch the new seasons of  "When Calls the Heart" together. I can't believe next week will April.  Boy has this year flown by so far.  Pretty soon we will be thinking about Christmas again.  I just finished paying off Christmas from last year, and even found a decoration I forgot to take down the other day, that the girls noticed and pointed out.  It was funny, I left the wreath on the front door, and after I took it down, I went to the mailbox and found When Calls the Heart: The Heart of Faith which arrived on DVD from Shout! Factory to review.  This was one of my favorite Hallmark Channel Christmas movies I watched last year, and was excited to be able to add it to my growing When Calls the Heart DVD collection.

Are you a fan of the When Calls the Heart movies?  They first air on Hallmark Channel and then are released to DVD.  If you have never seen one of these movies, but are a fan of period dramas like Anne of Green Gables, then you will love When Calls the Heart movies.  My mom was first to turn me on to these movies when she picked up a DVD and gave to me for Mother's Day last year.  After that I was hooked and had to pick up the other movies in this series to watch and enjoy.  

I love watching this movies and sharing them with my mom. Then, we chat on the phone while sipping tea, talking about our favorite characters and parts of the story lines.  We both enjoyed this new release, which we watched in December when she was here to help put the tree up with the girls and make Christmas cookies.   It really did get us excited about the holiday season and enjoying time with family.  So, it was nice last night to curl up on the couch with cozy blanket after the girls went to bed and watch this again.  I found myself enjoying it more as I didn't have the stresses of the holidays and all the to-do lists I had going in December, on my mind. And, this AM I called my mom and told her what I watched and how next time I see her would let her borrow and watch again.  She is excited to watch again, and like me can't wait for another When Calls the Heart to release soon, so we can keep up with Elizabeth (played by Lori Loughlin) and Jack (played by Jack Wagner).  

With Mother's Day fast approaching, the When Calls the Heart would make for a great gift to share with that special mom in your life.  Add the DVDs to a gift basket with new tea cup and tea sachets, maybe a journal or note cards to write handwritten letters with.  This is one gift they will enjoy and one that will have you both talking about this popular Hallmark Channel series.
