Did you have a favorite sitcom you used to watch with your parents growing up?  I had a few, including Welcome Back, Kotter. I remember watching this series years after it originally aired back in 1975 (and ran for 4 seasons).  This series made we want to become a teacher, just like the cool Gabe Kotter, who returned to his childhood inner-city high school in hopes to shape and mold the next generation of kids, turning them from trouble makers to a success story. This Emmy-Award winning TV sitcom still airs reruns today, but I was excited to finally get my hands on a DVD collection of the complete series -- all six seasons, and all 95 full-length episodes.  I like introducing my two girls to shows I watched as a kid, and have shown them a few of the episodes when we flip through the channels and see an episode is on.  Even they they complain about the picture quality as they say it isn't as clean and clear as shows they watch today, or they wonder why we dressed so funny back in the day, they still appreciate the themes and storylines that are presented as they still ring true today for today's high school generations. Isn't it great when retro shows like Welcome Back, Kotter, align with each new generation that has come after this iconic TV series originally aired?

If you grew up watching Welcome Back, Kotter, or are looking for something to watch with you older tweens/teens this summer, as you try to get them off their phones or away from their video gaming, and enjoying quality family-time together, why not pick up the Welcome Back, Kotter: The Complete Series, which releases to DVD today, June 11th.  You can order it online or find at your favorite local retailer.  Once you are done watching all six series, why not branch off and introduce your kids to Grease, and see what they say about Vinnie Barbarino (AKA John Travolta) as lead actor in this still popular today musical. :-)
