If you are looking for a fun family movie to watch with your whole family as you count down to new year's this evening, or for an upcoming family movie night, look no further than Strange World starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid, Jaboukie Young-White, Gabrielle Union and Lucy Liu, which is not available to own and stream on all major digital platforms. This movie will release to 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on Valentine's Day, February 14th. If you have Disney +, then you are all set as this movie is available on that platform.
More about Strange World:
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ original action-packed comedy adventure, “Strange World,” introduces us to three generations of the legendary Clade family as they attempt to band together and navigate an uncharted, treacherous land beneath their world.
The voice cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade, a family man who finds himself out of his element on an unpredictable mission; Dennis Quaid as Searcher’s larger-than-life explorer father, Jaeger; Jaboukie Young-White as Searcher’s 16-year-old son, Ethan, who secretly stows away in search of the adventure he’s always wanted; Gabrielle Union as Meridian Clade, an accomplished pilot and Searcher’s partner in all things; and Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s fearless leader who spearheads the exploration into the strange world. “Strange World” is helmed by director Don Hall and co-director/writer Qui Nguyen, and produced by Roy Conli.

My family and I sat down to watch Strange World the other day, after having this on our must watch movie list after seeing the trailer in theaters, and it was a hit with everyone in our house. Not only did it include a star studded cast to voice the characters, but the whole story line and action from start to finish, had us engaged and with our eyes glued to the screen. We laughed and smiled all during the film, and then more laughs were to be had watching all the bonus content including deleted scenes, bloopers, etc.
This was a very well-done animated sci-fi adventure, that had a family of explorers working together to help some their town, as they figure out what is killing all the power-providing plants. There are so many great messages/themes shared with this movie, including family, working together through differences, the environment, honest communication, teamwork, etc. My family really enjoyed this movie, and we can't wait until next weekend when we have a planned group watch of this movie with friends and family. This is one animated movie not to be missed!
