Now that our Christmas tree and decorations around the house are up, now I can concentrate on more important things...cookies!  I love this time of year, as I get to spend a lot of time in my happy place -- the kitchen -- baking up family favorite cookies, as well as trying out new cookie recipes I have gathered up through the year, and saved for holiday baking. I have lost count of how many cookie cookbooks I have...but, I can never have enough.  That is why I was super happy when the folks at Chronicle Books sent along a copy of Sarah Kieffer's "100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen," for me to check. As with all cookbooks sent my way, I read this one like it was a novel, cover to cover.  I flagged practically the entire cookbook, noting the recipes I wanted to try.  From classic cookies, novel treats, brownies, bars and more, this cookbook has it all!  I, for one, am a cookie lover, and love gifting family and friends with batches of fresh cookies for the holidays. I can't visit someone without a plate of cookies in hand. And, now that I have this cookbook, I am excited to surprise family and friends with new cookie recipes that my girls and I will bake up together.

I love how both of my girls love to cook and bake, like me. And, when the holidays roll around, I like easing up on our homeschooling, so that we can spend quality time together baking, watching holiday movies, reading holiday-themed books, together, and making homemade gifts to surprise family with.  It is my favorite time of year, and will be made extra special this year, thanks to this amazing cookie cookbook.  While I don't plan to get through all 100 recipes in this cookbook this year, my girls and I have set a goal to do a cookie recipe a day from this cookbook, starting Dec.1st. What better way to count down the days until Santa's arrival than with a cookie advent?  We plan to make enough cookies to gift to neighbors, friends and family, and also have some on hand to enjoy at night with cocoa, as we settle in to watch a great holiday film together.

We are kicking off our Cookie Advent Countdown on Dec. 1st with this cookie recipe -- can't wait!!!

If you love baking cookies, brownies or bars, and have been looking for new recipes to try, I highly recommend you check out "100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen" by Sarah Kieffer. This cookbook would also make for a great gift idea for that special baker in your life, or even to gift to a tween/teen who loves to bake, and wants to try out new tasty treat recipes.
