One thing I love about living in New England is that we are close to the shorelines of CT and RI, and a short drive to Boston and their beautiful harbor.  And, one perk of homeschooling is that my girls get to take sailing lessons one day, and then the next participate in a day long immersive class at the Mystic Seaport, exploring boats and maritime life.  So, they are always around water, and love books that are about adventures on the open waters.  So, when I heard that Random House Children's Books was releasing "Hope at Sea: An Adventure Story," I had to get my hands on a copy to review and share with my girls.  I had seen the following illustrated pages on their website and fell in love with the book.  It didn't matter what the story was about, as I found myself getting lost in the breathtaking illustrations.

But, once I had the book in my hands and read the story, I was loving not only the illustrations, but the story, too!  The illustrations are so lifelike that you feel yourself being pulled into the story and going along with Hope and her adventure on the open sea.

This book is well written and will be enjoyed by both children and adults alike.  My girls have been reading it on this their, and lingering on the pages to enjoy the stunning illustrations. Then, we will snuggle up at bedtime and read it together, talking about adventures we would have if we traveled the open sea like Hope did.  I highly recommend this book if your kids love books about boats or maritime adventures, or you are just looking for a book that offering amazing illustrations -- this book has you covered with both a great story and must see illustrations.  Grab a copy of this hardcover book, and see why we are loving it! :-)

More about this book:

"Hope doesn’t only want to listen to her father’s stories about his voyages at sea, she wants to be part of those stories.

And so, unbeknownst to her parents, she stows away on her father's 19th-century merchant vessel. But look... The wind has picked up and the sky is darkening...

Could there be such a thing as an adventure that is too exciting?

Join high-spirited Hope on a trip of a lifetime in this exquisitely illustrated picture book that also captures the love between a father and child."
