Last night the girls and I had a girls movie night, thanks to the kind folks at Warner Bros. Entertainment, as they sent along paint your own sugar cookies and a DVD copy of the upcoming  A CINDERELLA STORY: STARSTRUCK movie release (arrives to DVD on 7/13; available now on Digital).  Both of my girls have been eagerly awaiting the release of this movie, as seeing the movie trailer awhile back.  I kept it a secret that we would be getting an advance screening of the movie, and the cookies were an unexpected treat for our girls' movie night.

Here are some photos I took of the girls painting their farm-themed cookies, that we later devoured while watching this family-friendly movie that includes a love story, and will have you laughing throughout.

And, if you love animals like we do, then you will get your fix out cute farm animals in this flick, especially the cute pet pig, John Henry.  After seeing this faithful pig in the movies, both of girls were asking after the movie if we could get a pet pig that they could take for walks and sleep with. :-)

This is another re-telling of the classic Cinderella movie, but with a new updated spin with the new it her for tween/teen movies, Bailey Madison.  And, this one is set on a farm, and has a twist with the step siblings - instead of two wicked step-sisters, this retelling has a brother and sister. I have to say I like the new spin with the brother and sister, as it really gives a new spin to all the previous Cinderella movies.  Plus, I like how the characters were all younger, so kids nowadays could relate to them through their clothing styles, use of cell phones and the wildly popular musical addition to movies.

Both of my girls loved this movie, as did I.  We were sad when we knew it was coming to an end, as we could have watched this love story play out longer, and loved all the animal interactions.  We will definitely be watching this movie again soon.  And, it will be one we will continue to enjoy time and time again, for years to come. If you are looking for a laugh out loud, family-friendly movie, and like retellings  of classics like Cinderella, then I highly recommend you check out Cinderella Story: Starstruck, available now on digital, and arriving to DVD on 7/13.  And, I heard it will eventually be released to HBO Max later this fall (no release date set yet).

I can't wait to hear what you and your family think of this Cinderella retelling. Enjoy!
