Kick Off Summer with This Highly Anticipated Sequel...Tickets Now Available for In-Theater Viewing....

I am so excited to announce that Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is now playing in theaters....Yahooo!!!! It has been a long time coming for this family-friendly release thanks to Covid. After having the dates pushed back a couple times, it is finally here, and I know two girls who are over the moon excited to see Peter and the other rabbits.

My two girls were so disappointed when the movie was pushed out at Easter. Then, they hoped it would just be released to VOD so that they could watch it. But, now that it is here, they have been busy watching the first movie and reading all the new children's book releases form Penguin Kids Books, so that they can compare the first movie to the second, and see how the new book releases stack up against Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.

Thanks to the kind folks at Sony Pictures, my girls woke to two big Peter Rabbit 2 surprises this AM. First, I was sent a screener so that we could watch the movie at home.  I was hesitant to bring the girls to a movie theater as they aren't vaccinated yet, and our area just got downgraded from red to orange based on the number of recent positive Covid cases.  The night before my girls were talking before they went to bed, and saying they hoped I would change my mind and bring them to the theater to see this new release. They had no idea I was working with Sony Pictures to get a screener so that they could finally watch it -- and, that they did!...they watched it twice so far today, and have one more opportunity to screen the movie before my review link expires tomorrow. :-)  If having a screener to the movie wasn't enough, the girls also found a delivery halfway through the day, arrive just for them. And, when they opened the box, they let out the loudest squeals of excitement as the box was full of Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway movie goodies.  I loved seeing their eyes light up and their ear to ear smiles, as they took everything out of the box to get a closer look.

The girls loved everything in the box especially the squishy tomato, which when you see the movie, will understand why it was included with the movie swag.

They also loved the dot to dot, maze and word search pages that were included for them to do after watching the movie for the first time.  You can download some fun FREE printable coloring sheets here: https://www.peterrabbit-movie.com/#coloringsheets -- they would make for a fun before or after the movie activity to do with the kids. I ended up printing out all 9 coloring pages from the official movie website, and the colors spent a couple hours coloring them, before hanging some on their bedroom walls, and the others now adorn my fridge.

And once the girls were done with all the activity and coloring pages, they headed out to their garden to plant the carrot seed paper that were attached to the super cute Peter Rabbit 2 bookmarks. They each got two sheets, so are hoping for lots of carrots to nibble on and enjoy, just like Peter, siblings, cousin and other animals who visit the McGregor garden would enjoy.

My favorite parts of the Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway box of goodies was the vegetable tote which I told the girls they can use to gather their garden harvest or bring to the nearby farmer's markets on the weekends. In addition to the tote, I also liked the woven basket filled with baking goodies to make and decorate carrot shaped cookies (a super cute carrot cookie cutter was included).  My girls were in awe of all the sprinkles, decorative sugar and frostings that were included for them to use to decorate their Peter Rabbit 2 themed cookies, just in time for their third and final viewing of the movie tomorrow. :-)

I was so grateful that the kind folks at Sony Pictures made my girls' days with a screening of this movie, which has been top on their must see movies since a release date was set last year.  And, now that they have seen it...what did they think of it?  They both agreed that this one was their favorite out of the two. They said the story line was more in depth and they liked how we saw Peter find himself and his purpose through his adventures and misadventures.  And, they both liked how Bea and Mr. Mcgregor got married, and how Peter was more welcoming of this new family they were becoming.

I sat for the first viewing of the movie with my girls, and found myself smiling one minute at the sweet story unfolding, and then tearing up the next as Peter found himself in some sticky situations that had us on the edge of our seats, hoping he made a safe return home.

By the end of the movie, I, along with my youngest daughter, were crying happy tears. And, my oldest was clapping to show just how much she loved this movie. The music included in this new release was also catchy and spot on for the scenes.  My girls are already asking for me to buy the soundtrack so that they can sing and dance along to the songs.

If you are ready to head back to the theaters, and are looking for a great family-friendly movie to check out, I highly recommend Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.  I am not usually fans of sequels, but this was is really good, and worth seeing, especially if you loved the first Peter Rabbit movie.   And, for those who are going to wait until the movie has an estimated release date to Blu-ray and DVD for October 8th. You can already pre-order it through Amazon, so you don't forget to do it come the fall.
